The California Food Policy Council (CAFPC) recently released its California Food Policy Report
2020. The Report features resource development and advocacy efforts led by the California Alliance of Farmers’ Markets.
With this eighth annual edition, CAFPC showcases collective action and advocacy rooted in communities across the state to meet the challenges of the COVID-19 global crisis. The Report shares the CAFPC member councils’ successes in addressing heightened food insecurity, food chain worker health, racial equity, food waste, and food entrepreneurship in the midst of a pandemic, as well as recommendations for the journey ahead.
For its part, the Alliance leaned heavily on its member markets to compile the “Farmers Market Response and Best Practices Guide” in March 2020. This guide along with delivering multiple trainings and roundtable sessions provided vital support and information to farmers’ market managers throughout the challenges of the pandemic.
The California Food Policy Council is a coalition of 27 local food policy groups working to ensure that California’s food system reflects the needs of all of its communities.
