What About the Animals ?

Winding down a year can sometimes be...well... ruff . Everyone is
preoccupied taking care of business, last minute shopping, figuring out holiday logistics...

But....the animals.  What of  the animals?

So often, our animal friends end up in the cold. Shelters fill up quickly around the holidays.  Wildlife can be found clinging to survival amidst legal and environmental obstacles. Farm animals continue at the mercy of large factory farms working in favor of profit not protection.

But --- wouldn't it be amazing if shelters did NOT fill up? If we had no more abused and neglected animals? If we lived in a state (literally) of humane treatment of all creatures big and small, domestic and wild?

We are closing out another year of challenging work by encouraging  you , our supporters, to continue reaching out whenever you can - in whatever way you can - to help us create a state that  promotes animal welfare instead of one that exploits it. Because that is the BEST way to reduce shelter populations, assist wildlife, and protect farm animals - by addressing them at the systemic level - in Jefferson City.

From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for your unwavering commitment.

Thanks to your generous support, the Alliance has achieved
major accomplishments for the animals over the years, and we take great satisfaction in the numerous animal protection laws that we are responsible for enacting.

But the fight is ongoing, and animal welfare doesn't take a holiday break.

We ask you to please take a moment and read about our accomplishments and our challenges, while considering our Holiday Appeal.

The Alliance is excited to hold our 15th annual "Wine & Whiskers " themed Open Your Heart  gala fundraiser  Sunday, February 25 , 2018 at Lucas Park Grille. The evening is open to all animal lovers and will include great food, wine (of course!),cocktails, a variety of fun activities, and our silent and live auctions.

But - did you know that Open Your Heart represents a significant source of funding for our legislative work every year?

Thanks to the generosity of those who attend this fun event (and those who cannot attend but contribute in other ways, be that by donating auction items, sponsorships, or simply by donation-in-lieu-of-ticket-purchase) your support helps make it possible for the Alliance to continue our vital work with state legislators and public officials on behalf of the animals. The work is endless - but together, we are making a difference - YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

Pssst! If you can't make our fundraiser but would like to donate an item to the Auction, go to our Amazon Wish List (just type "Open Your Heart" into the Registry box): here

"There is a cycle of love and death that shapes the lives of those who choose to travel in the company of animals. It is a cycle unlike any other. To those who have never lived through its turnings and walked its rocky path, our willingness to give our hearts with full knowledge that they will be broken seems incomprehensible. Only we know how small a price we pay for what we receive; our grief, no matter how powerful it may be, is an insufficient measure of the joy we have been given." -Suzanne Clothier, author

Do you have a special pet whom you'd like to honor in memoriam? If so, we have created a "Companion Memorial Wall" on our website where supporters who have made memorial donations can share a photo of their beloved animal companion.
