Tax Cut & Jobs Act of 2017
In December 2017, the President signed into law the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 which introduces the most significant changes to the U.S. tax system since 1986. With a few exceptions, the tax provisions are generally effective starting in 2018. However, many of the changes to the tax regulations for individuals are temporary and scheduled to sunset after 2025.

NYS Requiring Income Verification
As part of the New York State identification verification process letters are being sent by the State requesting verification of NYS withholdings, primarily from W2 or retirement distribution.

If you received on of these notices please contact our office. Please note: this request is to verify your documentation, it is not an audit.
Expanded & Modified Work Opportunity Tax Credit
The Work Opportunity Credit (WOTC) allows employers that hire members of targeted groups who face employment barriers to claim a credit against income tax of a percentage of first-year wages.

There are now ten categories of eligible workers: qualified IV-A Temporary Assistance for Needy Families recipients; unemployed veterans, including disabled veterans; ex-felons; designated community residents living in Empowerment Zone or Rural Renewal Counties; vocational rehabilitations referrals; summer youth employees living in Empowerment Zones; food stamp (SNAP) recipients; Supplemental Security Income recipients; long-term family assistance recipients; and qualified long-term unemployment recipients.

Before claiming the credit, employers must first request certification on Form 8850 within 28 days after the eligible worker begins. Though generally ineligible for the credit, tax-exempt organizations can claim the WOTC for hiring qualified veterans.

United Way Of Ontario County - Day of Caring
On April 19, 2018 a small but mighty group of volunteers from Allied Financial Partners participated in the United Way of Ontario County's Day of Caring.

This year members of our team could be found cleaning windows, as well as dusting & straightening books at The Wood Library in Canandaigua - it was hard work!

We also were able help the Bloomfield Public Library set up for their Spring book sale.

After a long day we were all ready to go home and curl up with a good book!
We'd like to hear from you!
The thumbs up corner of our semi-annual newsletter highlights our clients' achievements. If you have any news that you would like us to feature, please email Andrea True at .
