Happy October! This time of year is always bittersweet on the farm as it is time for us to chop down the canna field for harvest. As temperatures drop and plants start to look worse for wear, we feel there are two types of people: those who are sad to lose their pretty plants and those who are glad to get a break from watering and look forward to planting their fall flowers. Which group are you in? Nikki says she is looking forward to a break from watering, but I am trying to enjoy every last second of blooms that I can.
Have you thought about winter care for your cannas? It's time! In our latest YouTube video, we are talking about all things you 'canna' do to prepare for overwintering! For my flowerbed, winter care looks a little different this year. I'm getting married and moving soon, so even though my cannas could overwinter in the ground, we will dig and store them, to go with me to my soon-to-be-husband's home in December, for spring planting.
