While we are extremely proud of everything that has transpired over the last 5 years, we look ahead at how much we can continue to improve our operations, our club and golf culture. Our goal at Union League National is to provide a fun environment while holding the traditions of the game of golf in the highest regard.
First and foremost, we have taken a close look at our pace of play standards. In the coming weeks, you’ll begin to see and hear initiatives to drastically improve our pace of play standards at Union League National. Up until the fall of 2022, it was difficult to pinpoint exactly what the pace of play standards should be. Between new golf holes, course routing and cart path only restrictions, it made it nearly impossible to pinpoint a reasonable expectation. With that said, we were able to use data collected in September and October of last year to determine what the expected pace of play standard will be. It has been determined that for the 2023 golf season, we will be targeting a 4 hour and 10 minute pace for a foursome. This takes into account the longer walks between some holes and at the turn. You will see an increased presence on the golf course from our rangers and professional staff this upcoming year helping to ensure the pace of play standards are properly adhered to. With that said, any group that egregiously violates this standard will be subject to corrective actions, set forth by our committee. Below you’ll find more details about this policy and its enforcement during and after an infraction. You will also find great tips on how to ensure you’re moving around the golf course at an appropriate pace.

Secondly, care for the golf course will be high on the priority list. We have added more trash receptacles for waste, we ask that anything you intend to discard while on the golf course makes its way into a trash receptacle. Standard course care like ball marks, divots and bunker raking will continue to be under the microscope as well. As young golfers, we are always taught to leave the golf course in better condition than you found it. This is especially true at one’s own golf club. We have spent the past four and a half years reimagining this golf course and countless hours to provide elite golf course conditions for you and guests to enjoy. It is now our time to take pride in caring for it.

In 2023, your first visit back to the club will feel different immediately as you enter the parking lot. We will ask you to be mindful and follow the new traffic pattern. It will require all vehicles to pass the front of the building and bag drop upon arrival. Vehicles exiting the property will be asked to exit using the back row of the parking lot. This will enhance our ability to welcome members and guests appropriately. Our team is excited about this addition as well as other improvements to the property that can be found in the body of this email.
In the recent years, we have relied on construction and capital investment to provide a wow-factor upon returning to the shore for the summer, this year the vast majority of our improvement will come from our dedicated staff members. We will continue to sharpen and hone the experience at Union League National year after year.
