A Letter from the Aloha Ilio Rescueʻs President
As 2023 comes to a close, a reflection of the year brings me great pride in all that we accomplished. We took in so many more dogs this year than in years past. We also adopted out and returned to owners even more dogs and puppies than years past. Our plates are always full with spaying and neutering appointments, sick and injured vet care appointments, clinics, monthly meds and treatments, daily feedings, bathings, fundraising events, adoption appointments, events, office work, administrative tasks, ground maintenance and so much more. Our staff works 7-days a week. Some days are harder than others, but we all do it for the love of dogs and our community. We are truly grateful to our community for all that they do for us. Your support allowing us to continue a much-needed service on our island means everything to us and especially to the lives we connect with each and every day. Each dog, from puppy to senior, big or small, deserves a new home for the new year. Let's make that happen together!
Happy New Year!

SPOTLIGHT ON OUR LONGEST RESIDENTS....
The Longest Resident at
Aloha Ilio Rescue
"Jager"
- 4 years old
- Male
- 54 lbs.
- Shy & Trained
| |
| | |
Meet Jager! This handsome boy has been at the rescue the longest - over 600 days! He is a gem and we do not understand why he is still with us. Although shy, he is potty/house trained and gets along with other puppies and dogs. He would need a patient and quiet family to give him time to adjust. In the meantime, he has been spending his days and holidays with his foster family. Jager would love a family to call his own this new year.
DID YOU KNOW??? It can take three weeks to several months, after arriving at their new home, for a dog to get comfortable with the routine, develop trust, feel comfortable and learn his or her role, while also learning new teaching methods and commands?

A New Year for a
New Home!
"Peeps"
- 4 years old
- Female
- 60 lbs.
- Sweet & Shy
| | | |
Let us introduce you to Peeps. Peeps has been with us over 300 days! She is 4 years old and about 60 lbs. We don't understand why she is still with us because she is the sweetest gal, house trained, crate trained, and loves affection. She is treat-motivated which helps with training. She is shy at first, very gentle and plays well with other dogs, and even cats. Peeps is low energy and not an over-zealous barker. She is looking for her human who wants to be best friends and in a home with adults or older children. Peeps has been spending her days and holidays with her foster family, but she would love a permanent family to call her own. Let's make 2024 her year!

Puppies born 12/9/2023
We took in a very pregnant stray who gave birth in our care to 6 bouncing baby puppies. These puppies and their mom are in foster care until they are adopted to good homes. We know puppies are cute, but they require a lot of care. They need vaccines, monthly flea, tick and heartworm meds, and training. Lots of training. This is one area where your donations help us! If you're interested in one of these pups, mama, or any of our other AIR dogs, please visit our adoptable dogs and complete an application or call our office.

Dog Food and More Dog Food!
Ways to Help....
| |
Kona Friends! If you'd like to help your community, but unsure how you can make a difference, here is an opportunity! Rockstar Pets Hawaii is collecting donations of dog and cat food to be distributed to houseless pet owners. This will be an ongoing effort to ensure no pet goes hungry.
Here at Aloha Ilio Rescue, we go through bags and bags of dog food. We just received nearly $2,000 of dog food. This is just one expense that we really could use help with. If you'd like to contribute and be part of our family of dog warriors, please consider a monetary donation or even a monthly donation. Every dollar helps!

Mahalo to our Fosters & Employees!
On December 30th, Volunteers held a luncheon for our Fosters and Employees to thank and appreciate them for their work and dedication. Our guest speakers were Kristina Henricks, DVM, who answered health and veterinary questions. Tobi Feves talked about various training tips and techniques. Our very own Daylynn Kyles spoke on a day in the life of rescue and 2024 goals for Aloha Ilio Rescue. A delicious luncheon was catered by Rene Schofield, one of our fosters/volunteers. There was a lot of shared knowledge and information, and we hope everyone took away something more to help with their dogs. An amazing fun time!
