MLK Day of Service at St. James, Hendersonville

Community volunteers in Hendersonville got together for a service project Monday in celebration of the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The volunteers from various faith communities, including our Blue Ridge Service Corps members (second photo reel) packed thousands of pounds of rice and beans for the fight against hunger in Henderson County.

Friar John Visits Redeemer for Religious Life Sunday

Brother John Huebner presented the homily Sunday, Jan. 14 at Redeemer, Asheville, in observance of Religious Life Sunday (A week early due to other obligations). He shared his calling to become a friar and the work that he has done in that vocation. The congregation welcomed him during refreshments, where he shared other stories and answered questions. His message was one of great interest and inspiration to the congregation.

Religious Life Sunday is held each year on the third Sunday of Epiphany and is an invitation to share the monastic and Christian Communities of the Episcopal Church.
