We hope everyone's summer is off to a good start! This summer our incoming ninth graders will only have one Summer Reading assignment, with six questions to consider while they are reading Animal Farm by George Orwell. That will be their only summer task. The information for the "Summer Reading/Assignment" is included below, in this Newsletter
We would like all students to read the same edition of this book. While many of us enjoy reading electronic versions of books on our tablet or Kindle, it is important that each student have a paperback copy of the same edition so they can discuss and annotate the book with Mrs. Leal in August. The links to purchase the correct version of this text, as well as the other texts needed through 9th grade, both through Amazon and/or Barnes & Noble included in "Book List" item below.
A few additional summer updates:
- Students enrolled in an IB program have slightly different graduation requirements from students on a traditional honors/AP program of study. While we will discuss those very few differences in the fall, please note that the biggest difference is that students in an IB Program are not required to take the HOPE (PE) class and are exempt from the virtual course requirement.
- Once we get more information over the summer, we will communicate information on Open House dates, etc.
- For information about Alonso's athletic programs, please

Thanks and GO RAVENS!
