Celebrating Brotherhood, Service & 100 Years of Legacy
|
– Anthony Medellin, 62nd ADG National President
Brothers of Alpha Delta Gamma,
It is an honor for me to address you all again as National President of our fraternity. Since being re-elected alongside two other National Council members at our Centennial celebration in Chicago last July, we have made meaningful progress on a variety of initiatives. The biggest success so far is the official revitalization of Psi Chapter at Barry University in Miami, Florida, bringing us to eight active chapters. This was a breath of fresh air after over 3 years of attempts to restart the chapter and comes at an exciting time for Psi, celebrating its 30th anniversary of chartering last August. This success could not have been possible without Travis Hogue-Smith, the first ever full-time staff member of Alpha Delta Gamma and an alumnus of Psi Chapter. His efforts resulted in eight new members being initiated, who are ready to build on their momentum going into next year. At the other active chapters, we welcomed over 50 new members in total this year. While a large class of graduates moved on to alumni status in the fraternity, the number of new members we have seen are a reminder of our ability to provide a place of belonging and development on campuses across the country. In addition to growth, an emphasis was placed on service and our impact on the communities at Convention. The active chapters answered the call and logged hundreds of hours of community service this year. Those hours include mission trips, providing essentials to houseless people, and raising money for Kosair Children’s Hospital, among others.
While there is much to be proud of this year, we have faced our challenges as well. One major external challenge has been the enrollment cliff that we are in the middle of. This has led to a consistent decrease in membership over the last few years that we are working hard to manage and eventually reverse. Also, there are currently two vacancies on the National Council, which has been a strain on the current members and our ability to manage progress. These challenges are not new and are not restricted to our fraternity, which gives us hope that we will continue to press on. We cannot do that without more support from our alumni, especially those that live near an active chapter. If you are interested in providing support to a local chapter or getting involved nationally and don’t know where to start, don’t hesitate to contact someone on the National Council or the Foundation. While we are fortunate enough to have a staff member now, we are still a primarily volunteer organization that cannot continue our mission without support from our brothers.
I look forward to seeing many of you in Miami from July 24-26 as we celebrate another year of ADG. There will be plenty of opportunities for us to network, reminisce, and discuss solutions in the meeting rooms, by the pool, or on the beach. Register soon and don’t forget to invite your pledge class as well.
Anthony Medellin
62nd National President

Alumni are the Key to ADG Survival – Derrick Cabrera, ADG Foundation President
Your Alpha Delta Gamma Foundation (ADGF) continues to support as many educational, service & charity events as possible. We have been proud to continue to provide a modest scholarship to one Active every year, but we have also introduced an alumnus scholarship. This new “post-undergraduate” scholarship for alumni is expanded beyond traditional graduate degrees or farther. It includes other continuing education and trade education assistance as well – hence anything “post-undergraduate”. Furthermore, ADGF continues to provide Service Awards designed to help actives and alumni with at least some assistance to provide “organized helpfulness to the world of men around us.”
Aside from those important, and obvious, financial assistance instruments, The Alpha Delta Gamma Foundation understands the importance of our Alumni and the vital role we play towards Alpha Delta Gamma National Fraternity’s next 100 years. As such, The Foundation continues to try to market ADGF and ADG highlighting all of the impressive milestones our actives and alumni are reaching and well beyond just our Social “S”. ADGF sponsors “networking Roadshows” in major cities, for example. We are attempting to be more involved in any local alumni chapter events. We organized a first-of-its-kind cruise (without use of Foundation funds) to provide yet another outlet of ADG alumni interaction.
It is an obvious goal of your Foundation to remind our Alumni of our True Brotherhood and to remind all of us how important it is to keep Alpha Delta Gamma up and running for our current Actives and our newest and future Brothers-to-be.
We need our alumni to know that this Fraternity is not centered around Social. But, arguably and thanks mostly to our incredible Actives, this Fraternity is now more purposeful in Service, Scholastic, School Spirit and Spiritual than it ever has been in our nearly 101-year history.
As The Foundation continues to sponsor the ADG 2020 Vision Committee, which focuses on ADG’s strategic initiatives for our next 100 years, the message to ADG Alumni everywhere is to please do remember Alpha Delta Gamma. Please remember the impact this Fraternity has had on your life even if it were only that one other Brother that you still keep in touch with. And when The Fraternity and Foundation launch our very first Capital Campaign in the next couple of years, please don’t forget that “a brother who is helped by a brother is like a City Walled.” Alumni are, indeed, the key to ADG survival.
| Alumni & Friends Travel Series | |
– Matthew Blair, ADG Foundation Vice President of Marketing
The weekend of April 11th, several alumni, from a variety of ADG chapters across the country embarked on a 4-day/3-night weekend cruise to the Bahamas from the Port of Palm Beach in South Florida. This trip was not a vacation, but rather an effort to promote and expand upon the Social S of our brotherhood.
The cruise was aboard the legendary Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville “Paradise Ship” and provided a wonderful environment for fraternal conversations, experiences, reminiscing and relaxation. Onboard brothers participated in a variety of activities and found opportunities to share fraternal time together in a relaxing and fun environment. Once in the Bahamas, some brothers took off on an adventurous and exciting day trip, exploring the island of Grand Bahama. Other brothers stayed close to the ship in the port of Freeport, enjoying a variety of shops, restaurants, and pubs.

The Alpha Delta Gamma Foundation (ADGF) is endeavoring to find ways to engage all alumni brothers, and the creation of this travel series is doing just that. We realize that for some brothers, S’s such as service and school spirit are most important, but for others who connect more to the Social S (and remember fondly a time when our fraternity was more of a Catholic social fraternity) thrive on time spent together, reminiscing on yesteryear, and even sharing life updates as old bonds are re-established, and new bonds are created. I know for many who attended this trip, the time spent sharing personal updates and deep conversation was in fact much more than social, as the passage of time that weekend often led to “safe space” conversation, deep connection, and the passage of encouraging words of support.
We are already planning another cruise next year, this time on a more expansive cruise line with advanced amenities and services. If you are interested in joining us on an upcoming adventure, please reach out to us as we would love to travel with you!! And yes, in case you are wondering, all are welcome. Feel free to invite your spouse or partner, or even that crazy cousin whose always up for a good time. All are always welcome!!
Ahoy!!

The 94th National Convention will be held from July 23–27, 2025, at the luxurious Loews Miami Beach Hotel. This year’s convention promises an exciting blend of brotherhood, learning, and fun in the heart of one of the most dynamic cities in the world. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in engaging workshops, network with fellow members from across the nation, and enjoy the rich culture and stunning beaches of Miami.
| | As part of the convention experience, attendees can commemorate the event with exclusive merchandise, such as the 2025 National Convention Tank Top and/or t-shirt, available through the convention registration site. Whether you're a seasoned alumnus or a new member, this convention is a unique opportunity to celebrate our fraternity's values and strengthen our bonds. | | One of the days will be spent at Barry. Don't miss this chance to be part of a memorable experience in Miami! | | | | |
|
Since 1987, the Alpha Delta Gamma Foundation has proudly awarded over $75,000 in scholarships to 44 deserving Brothers—recognizing academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to service. These awards reflect the heart of our mission: to support and uplift our Brotherhood through meaningful investment in our members' futures.

Meet JT Cornelius – ZETA Chapter
ADG Foundation Scholarship recipient
| | |
Congratulations to scholarship recipient JT Cornelius who took time out of his busy schedule to chat with us about what this honor means to him and the positive impact it will have on his career endeavors.
Q: How has the scholarship helped your studies?
A: The scholarship has allowed me to purchase necessary materials such as textbooks and research software and cover campus related fees. I am forever grateful for the help of ADG during both my undergraduate and graduate years.
| | | |
Q: What degree are you pursuing and what are your plans after graduation?
A: I am pursuing a doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in Anatomy on an Educational Research Track at Indian University School of Medicine in Bloomington, IN.
After graduation, I plan to take a faculty role at a smaller, undergraduate institution, much like Rockhurst University, where I joined ADG, and teach science and education courses. I also hope to work in a teaching center because I love helping educators gain new teaching skills.
Q: Tell us about your background and interests
A: I am originally from a suburb of Kansas City, MO and have a Bachelor of Science in Organismal Biology with minors in Educational Studies and Exercise Science from Rockhurst University in May 2022. Spotlight on Beta Chapter
Gaining Momentum Towards 100 Years
The alumni association in Saint Louis formalized their Board of Directors at the end of 2024. The Board includes Ken Schumm ’71, Kevin Murphy 72, Tom Cunningham 80, Gerald Gardner ’85, and Bryan Lind ’98. The Board met with a vision to build and increase consistent communication and alumni involvement leading up to the 100 year anniversary of Beta Chapter at Saint Louis University, October 26, 2027. Alpha Delta Gamma is the longest continually existing chapter on the campus of Saint Louis University. We are looking forward to connecting with as many alumni from Beta and any other chapters that live in the Saint Louis area prior to the National Convention in 2027 and 100th Anniversary of Beta Chapter later that fall.
We started by bringing different existing groups of alumni together with some of our traditional events. SLU Homecoming was the weekend of September 27-28 and we had at least 10 alumni come in from out of town to connect with other brothers and the school. Events over Friday and Saturday night allowed alumni to reminisce and meet other alumni and actives. On Dec 6th Beta actives and alumni had the greatest gathering of brothers for a UNight in the last 27 years. In the Spring Bryan Lind and Derrick Cabrera joined all the active brothers for Laetare Sunday to remember all our past brothers. The last event of the spring was the alumni sponsored Alumni Active BBQ to celebrate the successes of the year, the newest members of our brotherhood, and the soon to be graduating seniors. What started out as two alumni and a back yard BBQ trying to celebrate the actives has become a much larger now catered event courtesy of the donations of alumni.
Looking to the future we want to continue to build on some of the greatest events we have had in the last 30 years and bring more Beta brothers together than ever before. We also want to expand our reach to alumni in the area from any of our chapters. Start planning your travel and fun to Saint Louis now. We have the following dates which we will be having large alumni and active events around. SLU Homecoming Sept 26-28th, U Night Dec 5th, and Laetare Sunday in the spring of 2026.
Bryan Lind Spring ’98, Gateway City Alumni Association President.

Remembering Beta Chapter Alumni and Supporters
Over the course of the year we remembered our brothers that moved on to the chapter eternal. While we do not have a comprehensive list of all alumni that passed we do remember Al Boudreaux ’66, Geoff Hinton ’78, and Carlos Molina ’79. Unfortunately, Beta Chapter also lost a very important supporter of her chapter. Genevieve Gamma is the mother of Frank Gamma Beta ’75 and passed on 4/27/25. Frank is a Past National President from 1982-84. Genevieve opened her house to ADG parties and gatherings for over 5 decades. Whether around for a Beta chapter gathering or a major pig roast and BBQ during one of the many convention BBQs he has hosted, many brothers met Genevieve over the years. We will miss Genevieve and our hearts and prayers go out to Frank Gamma and his family.

Last year we outlined the need and goal for our 2020 Vision Committee. Our goal is simple – To sustain and grow our Fraternity for the next years to ensure we can instill the values we all learned and cherish into future generations of young men. At the beginning of 2024 we focused on FOUR major strategies to help us achieve the goals above. Below is an update on our progress.
SERVICE – While we will not ignore the other “S”’s we put additional resources to align with more external organizations to build and grow a platform that young men desire and want to be a part of today. We have identified Service opportunities in every major metropolitan area and put into a database for use by Active and Alumni Chapters. We created a Spring National Day of Service the day before Laetare Sunday. Our Active Chapters are on track to deliver 35% more Service-related events/efforts this current school year vs. 2023/2024.
EXPANSION – ADG has hired a Full Time Executive Director, Travis Hogue-Smith, with Expansion responsibilities. This is our FIRST Full time employee in the history of ADG! Travis is also an alum of Psi Chapter. We have identified over three hundred opportunities to expand and reactivate previous Chapters. The Director will assist and guide new Colonies through the process of becoming a Chapter. Travis is currently spending onsite time at Barry University in Florida to bring back Psi Chapter.
ALUMNI ENGAGEMENT – Alumni are a key part of our future success. We want to leverage their experiences and time to grow and give back to the new generations. In the last year we have a) updated our Alumni Database for the first time in over 20 years, b) sponsored 5 Roadshows in various metro areas to celebrate and engage with our Active and Alumni Brothers, c) sponsored the first ADG Cruise in April, d) restarted Alumni Chapters and e) hired a part time Marketing Director to better explain what ADG has and will be doing with our Alumni. This experienced person will help Alumni to better connect with their fellow Brothers and prepare for a Capital Campaign to continue strategies outlined above and maintain ADG current position as the lowest cost Fraternity to join! Thie NEW Alphadelity you are reading is part of that effort!
ACTIVE DEVELOPMENT – In order to compete and gain a competitive advantage in the Greek communities we are creating professional Topics and Tools for our Actives to use in their Undergraduate studies and beyond. We have identified 15 Topics/courses many of which will be developed and taught by Alumni.
These are just the first FOUR focus areas. More will come as we gain more resources. If you want to help or provide input feel free to reach out to Andy Schoettker(Rho 1978) at vpalumni@adgfoundation.org.
