CC International's advance team will begin scouting areas impacted by Hurricane Sandy next week and will identify a location for our Hurricane Sandy Volunteer Facility. We expect to be able to house, feed, and deploy volunteer teams completing Hurricane Sandy Relief Projects in December and will continue through April 2013. We will develop a safe and comfortable volunteer facility that meets Red Cross temporary housing standards, provide food and lodging to volunteer teams, and coordinate with local organizations and other relief providers to put volunteers to work where they are needed most.
In past years, CC International has put volunteer teams to work in Bay St Louis, Mississippi and New Orleans, Louisiana; (after Hurricane Katrina), Galveston, Texas; (after Hurricane Ike), Atlanta, Georgia; (after historic flooding), on the Gulf Coast; (after the Oil Spill) and last year over 700 student volunteers served in Tuscaloosa, Alabama in the wake of devastating tornadoes. We have received awards and recognition from the American Red Cross and others for these efforts. Now we are called again to put our experience and expertise to work responding to the devastation on the eastern seaboard brought by Hurricane Sandy.
We encourage university and college volunteer teams and alternative break organizers to respond to the overwhelming needs this disaster has created. Although we have not yet determined the exact location of CC International's Hurricane Sandy Relief Volunteer Facility we are asking volunteer teams interested in participating to fill out a Volunteer Team Sign Up Form to express their interest.
