CCI provides all food, lodging, tools, safety equipment, project materials, and a project coordinator allowing your volunteer team to focus on completing projects that address disaster recovery, homelessness, childhood education, and the environment.

ALTERNATIVE WINTER BREAK: Puerto Rico

Winter Break is an excellent time to volunteer in Puerto Rico. Many of our volunteer teams choose to take advantage of the longer winter break and extend their service experience beyond the typical 8 day project. Winter break volunteers in December and January also help CCI provide timely support to local communities recovering from the recent damage from tropical storms and hurricanes which plague the island each year.

PUERTO RICO PROJECTS

Our volunteer teams work on a variety of projects throughout the week gaining a broad view of Puerto Rico's nonprofit community.

Environmental Restoration

Engage in activities like working in tree nurseries, conservation and preservation projects in El Yunque National Forest, and participate in marine debris clean ups. All of these projects have a significant positive impact on Puerto Rico’s environment and communities. 

Housing Support

​Housing rehabilitation projects support senior citizens who have challenges maintaining their homes and provide affordable options for young families in need of housing.

Community Supported Agriculture

Engage in activities assisting local agriculture to help lower the amount of food imported. Local agriculture lowers food costs, improves quality, and makes Puerto Rico more self sufficient.

Early Childhood Education

The Puerto Rico Education System has suffered a series of disruptions including COVID closures, earthquakes, and hurricanes. Our volunteers assist local youth organizations to help these students get back on track!

​Not everyone can take a week of their life to travel to these communities suffering from disaster like our student volunteers do, but most people can chip in to help us get the job done.

As we celebrate our 30 year anniversary we are trying to get in touch with everyone that has participated in a CCI project. We've officially started receiving submissions for the CCI Alumni Photo Contest, and we can't wait to see all your amazing shots! Whether it's a nostalgic old photo, your best team moment, or a cool action shot from a volunteer trip, we want them all.
