Georgia Tech Nicaragua Project Report
"I recently spent my Spring Break in Nicaragua where I volunteered with ten other Georgia Tech students to build a much needed staircase and fence for easier access to the community , and painted signs to be hung around the community to promote environmental stewardship among the residents. 

I had a fantastic time! I learned, worked, and ate a lot, and loved every single minute of it! So glad I got the opportunity to not only experience another culture, but be welcomed into the homes and hearts of the people of Nicaragua I will never forget this trip! It has taught me so much about myself and the importance of having connections with others. I hope to bring the love and joy I saw in the people of Nicaragua back to Georgia Tech".

Project Report

Volunteer teams from-

Southern Oregon University, Ohio State University, University of Delaware, 

University of Vermont, Baldwin Wallace University, University of Virginia, University Texas at San Antonio, Clemson University, Georgia Southern University, Rutgers University, 

University of Colorado, Georgia Tech, and

 University Illinois at Chicago all lent a hand. 

 

Our projects focused on environmental restoration, poverty, community supported agriculture,and youth development.  

There's a lot more work to do on the Gulf Coast
San Francisco Bay Area Projects
Volunteers worked at food distribution sites and with urban agriculture

Volunteer teams from Southern Oregon University, University of Montana, Illinois College, Northwest Missouri State University, University of Texas Dallas, and Linfield College all lent a hand. 

Volunteers supported early childhood education, homeless shelters, food banks, community supported agriculture, boys and girls clubs, and completed environmental projects in the Redwood Forest  and on the shoreline of San Francisco Bay.

Thousands are homeless in the Bay Area
Plenty of work to do in the Bay Area and we need more volunteers.
Disaster Relief Projects

Each year we recruit volunteers to respond to communities suffering from the extraordinary hardship brought by natural disasters. This past winter and spring we responded to severe flooding in Colorado. 

 

University of Redlands, St Anselm's College, 

University of Texas Arlington, University of Texas Dallas, Tarleton State University, St Joseph's College,

Stony Brook University, Missouri Univ. of Sci. and Tech., Buena VistaUniversity,  Cornell College, 

University of California Santa Barbara, and Wartburg College sent over 300 volunteers who completed over 12000 hours of service to flood victims.

 

 Great job everyone!!

 

We will select the 2014 - 2015 Disaster Relief Site

at the end of US hurricane season in October.
