Special Announcement
Dear Friends in Christ:

It is with great sadness that we share the news that Pastor Kalina’s husband, Sione, died the evening of November 8th at a care facility in Tigard. As many of you know, Sione has been in poor health for much of the past two years and was just released from the hospital yesterday to return to the Foster Care facility where he has been in residence for several months.

Pastor Kalina shares her deep gratitude for your prayers and support for their family, especially over the past several days as his condition became more urgent. She believes that your prayers have been powerful and effective and were answered bringing him comfort as he passed peacefully in his sleep.

We would ask that at this time you allow Pastor Kalina some space and time,
but notes of comfort and support are welcome, either by email (pastorkalinamaluakatoa@gmail.com) or postal mail, sent to:

Pastor Kalina Malua-Katoa

Grace and peace,

Pastors John and Alyssa

Christmas Wreaths 2021 - Order by December 1st
First United Methodist Church (in conjunction with the Alternative Christmas Market) and Morningside UMC will be taking orders for the beautiful wreaths made by the Hispanic Farm Worker women from Woodburn. United Methodist Churches have supported their organization called Mujeres Luchadoras Progresistas for many years. Your purchase supports these women as they work towards leadership and economic development.

You can also order through the First UMC Church and the Morningside UMC offices by phone before December 1st. When and where to pick up your wreath will be communicated to you when you place your order.

The cost of the 24-26 inch wreaths remains at $35. (Due to rising costs the wreaths will not have red bows this year.) We can also have them make some smaller wreaths that will be sold for $25.

These wreaths are fresh, full and beautiful, and retain their color for more than two months.

You can mail a check made out to MLP to the church office that you place your order through. Thank you for your support of this deserving organization. If you have any questions you can contact Bill Sullivan or Jan Nelson.
