Antiwar voices around the world are rising up and there has been a surge in news outlets offering alternative or independent foreign policy viewpoints (particularly on YouTube.)

Here is the list:

2) The U.S. war against Russia in Ukraine

The U.S. Empire is crumbling. Its war against Russia using Ukrainians is a disaster, regardless of what the NY Times, NPR and the like say. China and Russia are more aligned than ever, Iran and Saudi Arabia are now working together, African leaders are publicly calling out the colonial West’s ways, and a multipolar world is happening faster than expected.

The war in Ukraine needs to end now – Russia is still trying to end it - but the U.S. won’t let it happen. The U.S needs to accept the fact that it is no longer the world’s superpower, and it should instead try to be part of a world that could benefit everybody, not just itself and its Western partners.

It’s clear that the situation in Ukraine is a movie or video game to many U.S. leaders, (and it’s definitely a financial boon for them and their weapon manufacturer colleagues). Some estimates are that around 100,000 – 250,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed – many of whom were forced to fight against their will. Each one of them had a mother, father, maybe a sister, brother, son or daughter, friends and colleagues, all of whom are impacted by that person’s death. Same with the estimated 20,000 Russians killed. And there have been hundreds of thousands of injured and mentally scarred, as well.

The U.S. started this war and if it continues sending weapons and it refuses negotiations, Russia will keep pushing forward, and given the circumstances, Russia’s position is very understandable. Russia is not going to lose, and U.S. leaders need to come to their senses. Joe Biden, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and Undersecretary of State Victoria Nuland are relatively incompetent and fanatical. In the case of Biden, he almost certainly has dementia, which is not a good thing for a Commander in Chief, especially right now. Nuland (her husband is Robert Kagan, co-founder of the neo-conservative movement) is fanatical. Blinken, Sullivan and Austin are out of their league and pale in comparison to other world leaders in their same positions.

The U.S. is losing badly, which probably means that it will continue to try and escalate matters. Their previous efforts have not worked (flying a drone in Russian airspace, blowing up the Nordstream pipeline and Crimean bridge, shelling the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, assassinating Russians and firing missiles into their country). Eventually the U.S., Ukrainian President Zelensky, NATO and the E.U. will be forced into reality, and in the meantime it is up to them to decide how many more people will die and suffer until they face the actuality of the world’s new paradigm.

3) Bettejo Indelicato

On a sad note, local antiwar activist Bettejo Indelicato passed away last week.

Here’s what her friend and colleague Dan Callahan wrote:

“With great sadness I'm sorry to say that one of the most courageous warriors for peace that I know has died. Numerous times this little person put herself in mortal danger to stop needless, senseless killings. She was on the streets of Baghdad when "shock and awe" began, hoping that the presence of American citizens might stop the American war machine. On the 20th anniversary of our invasion of Iraq, Bettejo has fallen, dying alone on her piece of Florida wilderness.

Like many of us, Bettejo was concerned about the Israeli treatment of Palestinians in the Occupied Territories. Unlike most of us, Bettejo went to a small village there representing a women's peace group, to document the daily humiliations and attacks on peaceful farmers by Israeli extremist settlers backed by IDF soldiers, as they grabbed more land for a greater Israel at the expense of a sovereign nation for Palestinians.

During her time among the Palestinians, Bettejo was beaten, shot with a rubber bullet, shot at with live ammunition, and vilified—”during her final trip she was stopped at the Israeli airport and sent back to the U.S.””

And here is what another friend and colleague, Brian Moore wrote:

“Bettejo was an anti-war activist who religiously appeared with the Nature Coast Coalition of Peace and Justice’s weekly peace vigil on Saturday mornings at the Weeki Wachee intersection, over the years, demonstrating against the Iraq War.

She also participated in many other social justice causes.

Bettejo also was a weekly participant with the peace group in New Port Richey on Friday mornings. She joined Jerry and Sue Cox, Dan Callahan and others every Friday for many, many years.”

Rest in peace, Bettejo, you will always be remembered.
