Join Us at the Auction – Virtually!
STCS friends & families, please join us online for our first-ever “hybrid” Auction on Saturday, May 22, 2021! Bidding begins Thursday, May 20, at 8:00 a.m. – don’t miss the fun and excitement! Auction chairs Shannon Prince Glaws (STCS Class of 2000, our first Alumna auction chair!) and Emily Mook have done a wonderful job planning our first auction that is both live and virtual -- and covid-compliant. Limited in-person seating sold out early, but virtual tickets are still available to bid in the silent and live auctions. Please join us – from the comfort of your home – for a fun and lively night to celebrate our school community! Check out the amazing auction items (vacations, experiences, dining, & more!) and purchase tickets here: STCS2021.givesmart.com
All-in for STCS!
Hand sanitizer, masks, distancing...oh my! We are excited to be in “Week 34” of our school year all in person! Plans are underway for the STCS end-of-year traditions – including Field Day, class celebrations, and graduations: 8th Grade, Kindergarten, & D.A.R.E. – all with covid protocols in place. Things looked a bit different at school this year, but our wonderful community -- faculty, families, and staff -- did a remarkable job working together so our students could be in school -- learning together. Since August our students have been in-person five days a week, with some students electing distance learning. To accommodate social distancing, the Monsignor McMurtrie Gymnasium is temporarily being used as four classrooms, students remain in cohorts during the day and eat lunch at their desks (the Cafeteria is being used as a classroom), “Specials” teachers travel to classrooms to minimize student movement throughout the day, and teachers take their classes outdoors frequently for breaks. As a community, we’ve met so many challenges together -- with faith and resilience. What a blessing to be nearing a very successful completion of this school year, with our faculty, families, staff, and students “ALL-IN” for STCS!
A STCS Tradition: Beautiful May Crownings
May at St. Theresa Catholic School and Church brings several First Holy Communion Masses and the STCS May Crowning, a tradition since the school opened in 1994. This year, our 2nd graders and Student Council participated in a beautiful procession, Mass, and May Crowning ceremony that was live-streamed on the school's Facebook page.

STCS Business Directory
Have you seen the STCS Parent-Owned Business Directory? It began as a way to assist our parent business owners during the pandemic, and we’re now expanding it to include our alumni and alumni parent-owned businesses. The Business Directory is a great way to reach our ever-growing community! If you’re a STCS alumni (or alumni parent) who owns a business and would like to learn more about the directory, please email Regina Freschi, freschir@stsashburn.com.
Alumni Spotlight
Congratulations to Peter St. George (STCS ’08), the first STCS graduate to be ordained to the Transitional Diaconate! Deacon Peter has been assigned to Christ the Redeemer parish in Sterling, and is scheduled to be ordained to the priesthood for the Arlington Diocese in spring 2022. He graduated from Bishop Denis J. O’Connell High School, the University of Notre Dame, and has one year left of his studies at Mount St. Mary’s Seminary. Peter was a Navy ROTC student, and hopes to become a U.S. Navy Chaplain. We are excited that he will be assisting at Mass and visiting with our students on May 25!
Thank You!
We are deeply grateful to all who participated in the 2020 Thunder Appeal, our first-ever appeal! We are humbled by your generosity, which has helped us address covid re-opening expenses, upgrade classrooms and technology, and bridge the gap between tuition revenue and the cost to educate each of our students. Through your kindness, we were able to raise over $82,000! You are a blessing to us all -- students, faculty, staff, and families! To learn more about supporting STCS, click here.
Beyond St. Theresa Lane
We love to hear about STCS friendships that continue well beyond St. Theresa Lane! Congratulations to Meaghan Tracy Weiss (left) and her husband Eric on the birth of their son, Declan Patrick! She is pictured with Caroline McDonald (center) and Michaela Tracy (right), all members of the STCS class of 2008. How time flies!
