Volume 102 - December 2023

Happy Holidays you and your family!

During this time of year, we reflect on how grateful we are to our members who have made this alumni-funded, alumni-led organization possible for 171 years. Thank YOU for your continued support and encouragement!

Speaking of supportive alumni, congratulations to former Alumni Association President and distinguished architect Frank J. Sciame '74 for being recently awarded with the 2023 Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Medal from the Municipal Art Society! The honor is for making a lasting contribution to New York City through vision, leadership, and philanthropy. Read more about Frank and the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Medal by clicking here.

Just a few weeks ago, we celebrated alumni achievement at our Annual Alumni Gala, a fundraiser for the Alumni Association. Thank you to everyone who supported this year's event and congratulations, once again, to our Townsend Harris Medalists and Finley Award honoree. In case you missed it, CLICK HERE to view a recording of the event. Also, CLICK HERE to download the Alumni Gala program journal. And if you are interested and able to contribute, we are still accepting donations -- CLICK the button below to donate.

Continuing with the theme of celebrating Alumni success, be sure to check out the new book CCNY Made: Profiles in Grit by Ronnyjane Goldsmith. The book is a succinct collection of profiles of CCNY Alumni and their rise to prominence and how they changed the world in the process. The author will be at CCNY on Tuesday, December 5 for a free book talk event - join us! Information up this and other upcoming events below.

I hope you enjoy a healthy, festive remainder of 2023. May the joy, love, and wonder of the season fill your heart and home. Happy Holidays!

Shepard Hall, Room 350, CCNY campus

Everyone loves an underdog who succeeds against the odds. “CCNY Made. Profiles in Grit” is the story of City College of New York alumni who beat the odds to reach the pinnacle of their professions and in the process transformed our world.

In "CCNY Made. Profiles In Grit," the stories of CCNY alumni are recounted who exemplify the promise of Townsend Harris, founder of CCNY and The Ephebic Oath affirmed by graduating students every year. "We will strive unceasingly to quicken the public's better, of civic duty; and thus, in all these ways we will strive to transmit this city not only not less, but greater, better and more beautiful than it was transmitted to us."

Join us for an exciting book talk at The City College of New York! Whether you're a bookworm, a fan of CCNY history or just generally curious, this in-person event is perfect for you.

CCNY Society of 1847 member and donor Ronnyjane Goldsmith's new book, "CCNY Made" will be discussed in an intimate setting in Shepard Hall 350, followed by a reception.
