City College welcomed back students to the fall semester with great news -- CCNY is among the best institutions in the U.S. for undergraduates according to the Princeton Review's "Best 389 Colleges." Classes began on August 25th with an official welcome back celebration on Thursday, August 31st (pictures below among several other pictures from events that took place over the summer. As we experience the beginning (the Alpha) of an new academic year, full of events and engaging speakers, we also must consider the end (the Omega) and wonder... who will speak at Commencement in the Spring?! The Chair of the Commencement speaker search committee has asked for your feedback. To learn more on how to submit a nomination for the 2024 CCNY Commencement speaker, please click here.
As you get back into your post-Labor day routines, please remember to check your Alumni Association membership--have you renewed? Remember that your membership and any additional donations are 100% tax deductible. Info on membership and where to donate below.
Have a wonderful last few weeks of the official summer season. I look forward to seeing you at an event in the coming weeks!

The Alumni Association of CCNY and CCNY Psychology Dept. present a book launch - Interpersonal Psychoanalytic Theory for the 21st Century: Evolving Self
Tuesday, Wednesday, September 27 | 6pm EST
Virtual Event (Zoom)
Free
Please join the Alumni Association of CCNY and alumni authors--Sue Harris '62, Janet Mayes '64 and David Singer '68--for a virtual book launch of their new book Interpersonal Psychoanalytic Theory for the 21st Century: Evolving Self, which will include a slideshow and a Q&A with the authors.
Interpersonal psychoanalytic theory states that people can achieve insight into how, through interactions with people, they became who they are, and how they can change patterns of living that limit further satisfaction. People are born with a blueprint for growth and development that includes self-respect, joy, expansion of experiences, creativity, and ever widening and deepening human interactions. However, with some exceptions, the mental health profession in the United States is dictated by insurance and pharmaceutical companies, focusing primarily on symptom reduction and social conformity. These goals are inadequate. The goal, as elucidated in Interpersonal Psychoanalytic Theory for the 21st Century: Evolving Self, is maximizing one's human potential.
