20 Years of Changing Lives through Education
When students and visitors come to the college’s main campus they are greeted by beautifully manicured grounds, sculptures and a stunning view of the Connecticut River. For as inviting as the campus is today, that wasn’t always the case. What a journey it has been. Beginning with the purchase of the Data Institute Business School in 1981, President Mark Scheinberg has been dedicated to improving the lives of Connecticut working women and men to attain certificates, associates degrees, bachelor’s degrees, and now master’s degrees at what is now Goodwin College. What started as an unassuming business school that was once on top of a pizza place has grown into a gleaming and productive nonprofit institution of higher education on the banks of the Connecticut River, formally becoming Goodwin College on June 16 th , 1999.
Countless lives have been changed by Goodwin College whether it is the lives of those who have graduated or those who teach at this educational institution. In this series, we celebrate those who give back through education.

The Goodwin Awards
On March 23, 2019 Goodwin College kicked off the 20th anniversary festivities with the inaugural Goodwin Awards. Emceed by Damon and Cory from 92.5, the evening was filled with fun, food, and friendship. The main event for the evening was the honoring of two outstanding alumni, an important and valued community partner of the College, and our own retiring Executive Vice President and Provost, Ann Clark, for her more than 20 years of service to Goodwin College.

Goodwin Students Write Their Truth
What is your truth? How have your experiences shaped the person you have become? What obstacles have you faced in your life, and how did you find the strength to overcome them?

In their new book, Writing Our Truth: Stories of Struggle and Survival , a team of student writers at Goodwin College addresses these difficult questions. In the form of short, evocative personal essays, these students describe their own experiences with homelessness, immigration, domestic violence, economic insecurity, teen pregnancy, illness, heartbreak, and death. While many of the students’ stories are full of pain and anxiety, the overarching message of the book as a whole is one of hope and faith.

The Hartford Yard Goats!
The Alumni Association sponsored a great night out at the ballpark for alumni and their friends and family. It was the perfect night for a game and a lot of fun was had on the Party Porch at Dunkin' Donuts Park. Keep an eye out for more events in the future!
