Networking and Dining Etiquette Dinners
Volunteer as a Network Facilitator by interacting with students during Dining Etiquette Nights
The Career Center would like to invite our alumni to participate as Networking Facilitators for one of our Networking and Dining Etiquette events this spring semester. This event allows students to learn the basics of introducing themselves to new contacts as well as dining tips and professional behavior during a business or interview meal. Being a Networking Facilitator simply means networking with students as they check-in to the event and helping to facilitate conversation at the dinner table. We also encourage you to share your professional networking and employment stories and tips with them throughout the night.

The three events will be held in Hulman Memorial Student Union (HMSU) and are scheduled for:

Tuesday, February 13, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Monday, March 5, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Tuesday, March 27, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

From 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. each evening, Networking Facilitators will mingle with students as they check in. From 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., you will be seated at a table with students as an instructor guides the participants through a four course meal.

If you are interested in participating in one of the Networking and Dining Etiquette events, please email your name, job title, company name, and phone number to Dr. Darby Scism, Career Center Assistant Director.

Indiana State University and Industry Partnerships
Partnerships with several industry leading companies, including Republic Airlines, leads to promising opportunities for Sycamore graduates.
Cameron Chiles has wanted to be an airline pilot ever since elementary school, when he took his first flight during a family vacation.

"We traveled through Chicago O'Hare and I saw all the operations and the controlled chaos - I just loved everything about it," said Chiles, '16, who grew up in Knox, Ind.

Chiles, 23, finally made that dream a reality when he joined Republic Airline as a full-time pilot this year. He started communicating with the company as a  freshman at Indiana State, and stayed in touch as he finished his bachelor's degree and accumulated the required number of flight hours to become a pilot.

Indiana State's relationship with Republic Airline is just one of the many valuable industry partnerships the university has formed over the years.

Alumni Feature
Kenya Woodard, '02
Hoping to get a part-time job to help pay her tuition, Kenya Woodard went with her best friend to a job fair on the Indiana State campus. The experience changed Woodard's life.

"My best friend was a journalism major. I was an education major," Woodard recalled.

When the two stopped at the table for the student newspaper, The Indiana Statesman, both friends were handed a job application. "I filled it out, and the next thing I knew I got a call," Woodard said. "I wrote for The Statesman for four years."
