What an amazing year 2021 has been! We were delighted to see so many of our alumni back on campus for homecoming and reunion weekend, at sporting events, and arts productions.

We are grateful to those who have supported us in so many ways and for your dedication to our students, faculty, staff, coaches, and school.

Meet the 2022 Athletic Hall of Fame Class
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we were unable to induct a Hall of Fame class in 2021. This year we will be inducting two classes into the Cincinnati Country Day School Athletic Hall of Fame. Please join us for dinner and drinks Friday, January 28 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. in the Dining Terrace as we honor the inductees listed below. A special halftime recognition for our honorees during the basketball game vs. Seven Hills will immediately follow the reception. RSVP is required to attend the reception.

WIN BIG at Country Date!
17th Annual Wrap-In
Cincinnati Country Day School's 17th Annual Wrap-In brought the school together for a day of gift wrapping and giving back. 
The Wrap-In is a tradition where students from all grade levels bring in unwrapped gifts to wrap and donate. This year – and in years past – Country Day donates the gifts to Cincinnati's Boys and Girls Club, Families FORWARD, and ProKids. This year over 1,000 gifts were donated!

"By providing our students with an opportunity to focus on others, we can make a difference for those in need while also planting crucial seeds about giving back to one's community," said Ashley Ward, assistant to the Head of School.  
All pre-kindergarten through grade 12 classes pair up cross divisionally to wrap gifts. Upper school students work with lower school and middle school students to wrap gifts together, before meeting in the dining terrace for an all-school assembly where they drop their wrapped gifts.  

"I love seeing the students come together to help out the community in need," said Laura Gunn, upper school math teacher, and director of service learning. "For many children, the gifts we donate may be the only gifts they receive this year." Gunn said the demand for gifts this year is especially high due to the pandemic.  
During the all-school assembly, Head of School Rob Zimmerman '98 shared a few words about the importance of giving back.

“The Wrap-in is one of our most cherished traditions," said Zimmerman. "It's about the experience of giving and joining together with classmates. What you did today is more important than the gifts themselves. I encourage everyone gathered here to remember the friends, impact, and memories you made today.”  
All-American Student-Athlete
Cincinnati Country Day School’s Jada Moorman '22 can now add “All-American athlete” to her list of athletic accomplishments.  

In addition to already being named All-Midwest Region, All-State, Miami Valley Conference Player of the Year, and First Team All-State, Jada was selected by the United Soccer Coaches committee as an All-American athlete.  
This year, in Moorman's final senior season of soccer, she scored 38 goals and had eight assists. She finished her Country Day soccer career with 80 goals, 32 assists, and a 74-4-7 record. In addition to soccer, she also plays basketball and softball for Country Day.  

"Jada is a driven athlete who has excelled as a three-sport athlete at Country Day,” said Theresa “Hirsch” Hirschauer, girls' varsity soccer coach and the Middle School head of school. “She is a strong athlete who has this innate ability to dominate the game with her speed and power."  

Moorman is Country Day's fourth girls' soccer player to receive the esteemed designation of All-American; she joins Missy Vierling '03, Olivia Brown '17, and Lawson Renie '20. 
"It takes a tremendous amount of effort and talent to become an All-American and speaks volumes about her dedication to the sport and her team,” said Dennis Coyle, athletic director. “It is a fantastic distinction for any student-athlete as well as for our soccer program. I am incredibly proud of Jada.” 

During her tenure at Country Day, Jada has worked hard on the soccer pitch, often passing over other extracurricular opportunities to spend time practicing.  “Being an All-American means sometimes missing time to hang out with friends to work on technique and skills,” says Moorman. “It means not giving up when things get rough. It means knowing your family and friends are there and support you even when they are not with you physically.” 

"At Country Day, we strive to provide an environment in which students can reach their highest potential both personally and academically,” said Coyle. “Jada and our girls' soccer team are exemplary both on and off the field and have set a standard of excellence in all we do at Country Day.”  
Nominations for Arts Hall of Fame
To celebrate the strong and vibrant tradition in the arts at CCDS, an Arts Hall of Fame was created last year to create a tradition of recognizing former Country Day students and community members for their contributions in the fine, musical, performing, and literary arts.

To be eligible for nomination the candidate must have been one of:
  • A student who has been graduated from CCDS for at least five years.
  • A faculty member.
  • A community member who has made a significant contribution to arts.

Upper School Librarian Nat Tracey-Miller '05, Head of Lower School Mark Morawski, and Head of School Rob Zimmerman '98 joined the fun on pajama day.
Lower school students took full advantage of the first day of snowfall.
