Alumni Spotlight

In a reflective piece, Abby Doble '21 shares how early lessons in the classroom and on the Fields of Freedom laid the groundwork for her success at West Point and in military service. From fifth-grade memorization of “Man in the Arena” to seventh-grade essays on sacrifice, Abby credits BA with cultivating character, discipline, leadership, and the value of teamwork. Those same lessons proved essential during West Point’s rigorous Beast training and now in the high-stakes responsibilities of a field artillery officer. Abby will be deployed to Germany for 3 years beginning in January 2026. Thank you for your service, Abby.

ANNUAL ALUMNI CHRISTMAS PARTY

**NEW LOCATION**

As the year winds down and the holidays draw near, we are excited to invite all alumni to one of our favorite traditions: the Annual Christmas Party! The turnout in recent years has been remarkable, and we can’t wait to build on that momentum again this season.

This year’s celebration comes with a special highlight. We are thrilled to gather at the NEW Explorium Brewpub in Wauwatosa, owned by alumni parents Mike and Joan Doble (Abby '21). It is a welcoming space that blends craft, comfort, and community, an ideal backdrop for reconnecting and raising a toast to the year ahead.

Whether you have joined us every year or haven't returned in a while, we hope you will consider making this the year you come back. RSVPs are not required, but we would appreciate knowing if you plan to attend.

SATELLITE ALUMNI GATHERING

SEATTLE

SATURDAY, JANUARY 24, 2026

QUEEN ANNE BEER HALL

6:00 pm

Seattle, we are headed your way! Last year, we visited Washington, D.C., and this year, we are kicking off the new year with a trip to Seattle. Whether you call the Pacific Northwest home or you are looking for a refreshing winter escape, this alumni gathering promises great company in a city that shines even on its cloudiest days.

Join Doug and Mary Ricci, Larry Pesch, Peter Grossman ’89, and Susan York ’91 Jeide for an evening of camaraderie, conversation, and classic Emerald City charm. It is the perfect time to reconnect, expand our alumni network, and enjoy the atmosphere of Seattle.

And remember, this is not just a local event. Alumni from near and far are encouraged to make a weekend of it. Explore the city’s legendary coffee scene, wander its scenic viewpoints, and, if Seattle cooperates, catch a glimpse of Mount Rainier.

Thank You for Your Support

Last month's alumni newsletter highlighted Mr. Homan's "Tiny People" Scholarship, honoring a beloved teacher whose impact continues to shape our BA community. In just a few short weeks, many of our alumni stepped forward to make a difference, a true reflection of the generosity that defines our Brookfield Academy Alumni.

Let’s keep the momentum going as we move into this holiday season. There is still time for alumni to make a gift and help us finish the year strong!

CHRIS SHORE '95

He spent time with students, faculty, and parents, sharing powerful stories and reflections from his 24 years of distinguished service in the United States Marine Corps. Several alumni welcomed him back, creating a warm homecoming. We are deeply grateful for your dedication and sacrifice, Chris, thank you for your service.

ROHAN GANDHI '25

Rohan took the stage at the Purdue University Undergraduate Fall Expo 2025 to present his compelling research on snowmaking as a maladaptive response to climate change. His work digs into the surprising and often overlooked, downsides of relying on technology to preserve the ski industry, revealing how investments in snowmaking infrastructure have failed to stop the decline of U.S. ski resorts. Despite these efforts, 65% of American ski resorts have closed since the 1960s. Drawing on a Wisconsin case study, Rohan connected his academic findings to his own experiences in ski racing at BA. Job well done, Rohan!

MEGAN '22 AND JOHN '24 GRASSE

Mr. Spaeth visited the Grasses during his Counselor Fly-in at Lipscomb University in Nashville, TN. Megan is now a senior at Lipscomb, where she is majoring in Education, and John is a sophomore studying History at nearby Trevecca Nazarene University. Both students are thriving academically and personally, and they continue to enjoy their college experiences.

SAMIR SIDDIQUE '11 and JAKE DEHNE '95

Westown Association honored two outstanding BA alumni for their contributions to improving downtown Milwaukee. Thank you to Samir (Wisconsin Avenue Property) and Jake (The Sydra Group) for the impactful work you do for our great city on a great lake!

SUSY BEHLING '96 PRAEFKE

Campus is very safe with the addition of Susy to our security team. Susy will continue serving as a detective for the Brookfield Police Department while joining our campus security team part-time. Or maybe she is also keeping a close watch over her own two children in the high school!

AMANDA ROESSLER '20

Amanda and her father completed the Athens Marathon: The Authentic, running alongside nearly 20,000 participants on the legendary route once traveled by Pheidippides after the Battle of Marathon in 490 BC. A remarkable experience, and history at its finest!

DAVID ROESSLER '23

David's father, Ron Roessler, was invited to speak to prospective pre-med students at Princeton University as part of the University's signature series, "The Doctor is In." In addition to Ron's work coaching Latin Certamen for BA and representing Wisconsin at Nationals, Ron serves as an emergency medicine physician at several local hospitals. Ron's visit offers him a chance to spend time with David, now a junior at Princeton majoring in Operations Research and Financial Engineering with a Math minor.

MENTOR A CURRENT STUDENT

Interested in having a shadow at work? A few very motivated BA Upper School students started a new club focused on connecting BA students with professionals in the Milwaukee area who are willing to share insights about their careers. They are hoping to help students find shadowing opportunities in various fields.

As BA alumni, you provide a unique resource that can offer a wealth of valuable information for these eager students. Would you be willing to lend your expertise and guidance in supporting these students?
