VETERANS DAY ASSEMBLY

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 11

8:15 am

Freedom Hall (Middle School) Library

We are excited to welcome Christopher Shore '95 to campus as the featured Veterans' Day Assembly speaker. After 24 distinguished years of service as a U.S. Marine Corps Officer, culminating in his role as Director of International Strategic Partnerships, Chris retired from active duty, bringing to a close an exceptional career marked by leadership in international partnerships, talent management, and logistics. Most recently serving at the U.S. Embassy in Oslo, Norway, Chris concluded his tour with notable honors, including presenting at the prestigious FSI FAR/DFARS Seminar and receiving an award from U.S. European Command.

Chris and his family have relocated to the Chicago area. Alumni are more than welcome to attend and hear Chris share his insights, stories, and reflections from a truly remarkable career.

GOAL:

100+ Alumni Giving $100 or More

Homecoming last month was not just about sports, music, and dances. It also sparked something exciting. Seniors Zoe Johnson, Isabelle Prado, and Shivi Shah kicked off fundraising for Mr. Homan's "Tiny People" Scholarship, raising $2,000 right from the start.

If you knew Jim Homan '74, whether as a classmate, teacher, or simply as the guy who lit up the room, you know how much he cherished his Level 7 "Tiny People." To carry forward that spirit, the Homan family established the Mr. Homan “Tiny People” Scholarship, supported by family and generous donors.

Whether it is to the Homan Scholarship, the Annual Fund, the Center for Mission & Academics, or another cause on campus you are passionate about, every gift gets us closer to this new alumni giving goal.

Say What?!

KYLE WAS CROWNED COW CHIP CHAMPION?!

Kyle Peter '03 and his wife and current faculty member, Katelyn, competed with their friends in the WI State Cow Chip Throw in Prairie Du Sac, WI. Each thrower was given two chances to throw a dried cow ‘chip’ as far as they could. Kyle and Katelyn’s team, Moo-kie Dough, not only embraced their inner farmers, but also became champions! Their best throws were so impressive, they almost made the cows jealous!

CARLY GOT MARRIED?!

Carly Trainor '07 Thrun tied the knot in a dazzling ceremony this past August on a beautiful night in downtown Milwaukee. Surrounded by her devoted siblings, Kimberly Trainor '08 Tschantz and Brian Trainor '04, along with other BA alums, Carly said "I do" to Michael. All in all, it was a night filled with love, laughter, and just the right amount of chaos that only a family wedding can bring.

MEGAN WAS ON CAMPUS?!

This past summer, Megan O'Malley '10 Parato made a quick stop on campus with her three children. As her kids enjoyed the swings and slides, Megan relived her memories from the olden days. Dr. Pesch happened to spot them and snap a photo during her visit. Megan lives in St. Louis with her husband, David.

SARAH DID IT AGAIN?!

In the July newsletter, we spotlighted Sarah Kapustin '99 for Bach (De)constructed, her innovative solo film project reimagining Bach's works. Now, her fourth film in the series has just been released.

KATIE AND LUKE HAD A BABY?!

That’s right! Katie Kohls '07 and Luke Ball '07 are officially in the parenting club! They joyfully welcomed their sweet baby boy, Otto, into the world in late July, and they’re soaking up every moment of the adventure.

OLYMPIC REPEAT FOR CATHERINE?!

From the ice rink to the boardroom, Catherine Raney ’99 Norman continues to make an impact on the Olympic stage. A four-time Olympic speedskater, she now serves as the chair of the Salt Lake City–Utah Committee for the Games, leading efforts as the city prepares to host the 2034 Winter Olympics. MENTOR A CURRENT STUDENT

Interested in having a shadow at work? A few very motivated BA Upper School students started a new club that is focused on connecting BA students with professionals in the Milwaukee area who are willing to share insights about their careers. They are hoping to help students find shadowing opportunities in various fields.

As BA alumni, you provide a unique resource that can offer a wealth of valuable information for these eager students. Would you be willing to lend your expertise and guidance in supporting these students?

Reach out to the Alumni Office if you are interested.

Future Alumni Events

From Coast to Coast: Our Alumni Gatherings Just Keep Getting Better!

We’ve been making our way across the map from New York’s bright lights to Dallas’s big skies to Washington, D.C.’s marble halls, and now we’re packing our umbrellas and heading to Seattle!

Join the Riccis, Peter Grossman '89, Susan York '91 Jeide, and Larry Pesch for a night of laughs and maybe a little friendly debate over who’s changed the least since graduation. Whether you’re a lifelong Seattleite or just in it for the coffee, you won’t want to miss this one!

Stay tuned for the details and get ready for a great time in the Emerald City. Rain or shine (but let’s be honest, it’ll probably rain).
