Two BA Alums Featured in The Women's Issue Milwaukee

Julie Tolan '83

Julie Tolan '83 won the 2022 Quadracci Family Award for the outstanding job she did as CEO of the Milwaukee YMCA from 2013-2016. The Quadracci Family Award is given annually to someone whose accomplishments would resonate with Betty Quadracci.

In 2013, Julie realized that the Milwaukee YMCA would run out of cash within a year. With multiple employees quitting due to the YMCA having cut benefits, salaries, and budgets prior to Julie's arrival, she was in for an uphill battle. Julie made great business decisions to keep the YMCA alive, and in 2015 "the organization survived and emerged reinvented."

Julie said, "It isn't easy to persuade that change is really what needs to happen - unless there's a crisis...My real focus is on leading change." Julie stepped away from her position at the YMCA in 2016 and recently took ownership of Lauber Business Partners with her husband.

Colleen Rollo '99 Beres

Colleen Rollo '99 Beres has served as the Chief Strategy Officer at Terra Translations since 2018. Colleen was "inspired by Terra's incredible history, the strong corporate culture, and the vision Marina had for the company's future."

Terra Translations offers expert and tailored language services so companies can connect with a global audience. Services include translation, transcreation, voice-over, subtitling, desktop publishing, video game localization, and more.

As Colleen continues her role with Terra Translations, she is excited to work with Loretta Mulberry '10, who also happens to be a BA alumna. Colleen and Loretta have been working at Terra without knowing that one another attended Brookfield Academy. Colleen says, "With roughly 200 employees spread globally, this is a massive coincidence. The best part is that we discovered this common thread in the Houston airport while traveling home to Wisconsin from Argentina where we had been participating in an all-company gathering."

Beginning in January, Colleen and Loretta will team up in the same department to drive business development at Terra Translations.

Current Events

Veterans Day

Alumni Parent, and Army veteran, Mike Doble, talked to members of the BA community about his service in the Army and how there are many different career paths to choose from when joining the military. Mike encourages parents to understand that joining the military does not mean joining the front lines and that great careers can be made while serving our country. Mike is married to Joan Doble, Director of Admissions at BA, and has two kids, Noah and Abby '21. Abby is currently at West Point.

College Care Packages

Care packages have been sent out and received by graduates from the Class of 2022. Thanks to the parents and grandparents who helped pack the boxes to the brim for our newest alums.

Online Giving Day and A.B.E. Club

Tuesday, November 22, marks BA's Annual Giving Day. In recognition of the 60th Anniversary of Brookfield Academy, we have established the A.B.E. Club. This is a giving option that allows you to contribute monthly to the Annual Fund, scholarships, or other areas directed by you, the donor. Membership in the A.B.E. Club allows you to conveniently provide our students with all they need to succeed and helps ensure the success of BA into the next 60 years.

BA Robotics Team Seeking Alumni Help
