February 2018
Dear Friends,
Our Harrisburg Academy alumni are truly exceptional. When we receive updates from our alumni about career accomplishments, promotions, and incredible things you are doing for your communities, we are humbled and thankful that Harrisburg Academy played a small part in shaping you into the outstanding people you have become.
Before our graduates can become exceptional alumni, they are first exceptional members of our student body. Helping others is an integral part of what makes our Academy family so extraordinary. Academy students and their families are currently fundraising for our Feed the Need event. As a result of Feed the Need, 10,000 meals will be packaged for hungry children and their families, both locally and abroad. Additionally, below you will find highlights of some of the achievements of our current students and the Academy, as well.
As always, the new year brings new events and new possibilities, and we are looking forward to having our alumni join us at an event in 2018. Thank you for being a part of our Academy family!
With Spartan Pride,

Make Your Impact
Feed the Need
Harrisburg Academy is hosting a Feed the Need Packing Party! We are excited about this event, not only because it is a tool to provide funds for technology, arts/music, scholarships, athletics, faculty, and innovation for our school, but also because it is a five-back event for our students. We will will be packing, sealing, and boxing 10,000 meals for hungry children in our community -- 5,000 meals will go to the Central PA Food Bank and 5,000 will be shipped to Haiti.

Your financial sponsorship will truly make a difference for Harrisburg Academy AND for hungry children locally and overseas.

Music Suite Celebration
Recently, we celebrated a generous donation from Derek C. and Margaret I. Hathaway and family to support the arts at Harrisburg Academy. These funds offset some of the remaining cost of our music suite construction and will help to further music and performing arts in the Academy community.

Thank you for your generosity!

“Savage Sushi… We’re on a Roll!” — This is what the clever group of 10 4th through 8th graders wrote on the board at the start of a recent  LEGO® League session . Our team, “Savage Sushi,” meets Thursdays after school for an hour that flies way quicker than any of us can imagine. I enjoy coaching this group of fearless engineers as we attempt to build and program the robot to accomplish missions in the Robot Game and design a solution to a problem in the human water cycle, all the while, remaining true to core values coined by FIRST LEGO® League. Teen of the Week: Harrisburg Academy Senior has Passion for the Environment (From The Carlisle Sentinel)
For many students, pursuing their passions can mean opening them up to new opportunities. For Hayden Qualls '18 , a senior at Harrisburg Academy, pursuing his passion for the environment has given him the opportunity to travel to new lands.

In July, Hayden traveled to Peru on scholarship to, among other things, help build greenhouses for the local community.
