June 2018
Dear Friends,
With Commencement and summer right around the corner, it is hard to believe we are already at this time! It seems it was just yesterday we were beginning the academic year with summer closing and the cool crisp days of fall waiting to appear. Having gone through this a process a few times myself with high school, undergrad, and graduate school graduations, I remember how exciting this time is for our new, soon-to-be alumni. I know that you all are familiar as well, and whether it has been two or 20 years since you became an alumnus or alumna of the Academy, you remember that anticipation of what is to come for the Class of 2018.

We are excited to welcome these new graduates to our alumni family, as well as recognize Lindsay Swartz as she begins her new position of alumni development associate at the start of the 2018-19 fiscal year on July 1, 2018. Lindsay has a bachelor’s degree from Shippensburg University in communication/journalism with a concentration in public relations, as well as a master’s degree from Central Penn College in organizational leadership with a concentration in organizational development. She has been with the Academy since Oct. 1, 2017, working as a development associate, assisting with many projects including some of the alumni events. I know you will welcome her warmly, and also be in good hands, as she begins to develop new alumni events and activities, and engage and work with you to see what would make your experience as a Harrisburg Academy graduate the best it can be.

Below, you will see some current Academy students’ accomplishments, and highlights of happenings and staff changes here on-campus. As always, the door to the Development and Alumni Relations Office is open for any questions or suggestions, and we look forward to connecting with you again through the Alumni Explorer at the start of the 2018-19 academic year. Happy Summer!

With Spartan Pride,

Stacy Klann

The Allison Zuckerman: Stranger in Paradise collection is currently at the Rubell Family Collection Contemporary Arts Foundation through Aug. 25, 2018, completing an 8-month residency.

According to the Foundation’s site , “Allison Zuckerman, the foundation's 2017 artist-in-residence, has created large format paintings and sculptures using the foundation’s main gallery as her studio. “I had the great fortune to be able to start learning music at a very early age, years before most schools begin teaching it. This early introduction was due to my school’s music program, which introduces students to strings in Junior Kindergarten. These music lessons sparked my interest in music, and without them, I never would have begun to play cello.” -- Kate C. ’20
