Dear Field Alums,

The Field School has challenged its students to discover their authentic selves and distinctive paths for more than five decades. Our graduates depart Field as confident, inquisitive, and daring thinkers equipped with essential skills that last a lifetime.

I am pleased to share this inaugural issue of Falcons in Flight with our alum community. This publication aims to connect alums and share the journeys that you have taken since graduating from Field. These stories inspire us all.

The Field faculty takes pride in the numerous ways our alumni "soar" in the world, and we are thrilled to have a new platform to share your stories and provide a path for alumni engagement and connection.

We look forward to hearing from you and seeing you at upcoming community and alumni events.

Warmly,

Lori Strauss

Head of School

ALUMNI SPOTLIGHT

Sharing Authentic Voices

Natalie Johnson ‘14, a freelance writer and illustrator focused on social justice, and Tembe Denton-Hurst ‘13, a book-obsessed beauty and culture author, have each forged their paths to success at the intersections of writing, art, fashion, and more. Natalie credits Field with giving them the confidence to be "multi-hyphenated,” taking on a variety of creative pursuits that make a difference in the world. These two alums have recently collaborated on Natalie’s project, Black Love Letters, which was edited in partnership with Cole Brown, and collaborated with John Legend and his imprint, Get Lifted Books. Tembe '13, the award-winning author of Homebodies, joined an incredible list of contributors to Natalie's project. Learn more about these two dynamic alums and their unique journeys.

COMMUNITY IMPACT

Alumni Gathering at Homecoming 2023

We love seeing alums on campus! On October 14, Field alums representing five decades came back to campus to reconnect and reminisce at Turnout on the Terrace during Homecoming. It was so great to see alumni back on campus. Take look at our photo album.

Faculty Feature: Marques Darcelin

We know many alums remember Marques Darcelin, a valued member of our facilities team who has been with Field for 21+ years. Learn more about Marques here.

Empowering Imaginations: Our New Science Classrooms and Labs

Last fall, Field welcomed students back to campus with five renovated science labs and classrooms. The expansion of these classrooms and labs has allowed for immersive scientific discovery and research and four new science and coding and making courses. Learn more about the innovative spaces and their impact on our students and teachers in this video.
