Greetings, we hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving! In this issue of the alumni newsletter, we bring you updates from our busy summer and breaking news from the fall.
To start, we are very proud to share the news that current PGY 3, Dr. Philipp Rauch, has recently been recognized nationally as the recipient of the 2018 American Society of Hematology Outstanding Abstract Award. Congratulations Phil! See below to read his abstract.

Many members of our residency program (me included) are enthusiastic runners in races all over the country. At the Boston Athletic Association 10K this summer, I was joined by a number of residents seeking to take me up on my offer of buying a drink for anyone who finishes before me... and almost all of them did. In addition to coming together for races, our residents stay active by participating in various outings and activities organized by the resident-led Wellness Committee.
Our local alumni were also active this summer at our 2nd Annual Alumni BBQ. Alumni, friends, colleagues and their families reunited for an afternoon of good food and fun in Boston's Franklin Park Zoo. Thank you to all who came out and supported the event. As many of you remember, fall means retreat season. And yes, the Interns still camp in the Warren Conference Center cabins and the Juniors are still hosted at Dr. Sheilah Bernard's home. Check out below for some pictures from present and past retreats - see if you can spot your class!
Our spotlights this issue are PGY 3 resident Dr. Leah Harvey and alum from the class of '08, Dr. John Ryan. Dr. Harvey is a member of the Primary Care track and the HIV Medicine Pathway, and recently matched here at BMC for ID/addiction medicine fellowship. Dr. Ryan is an international renowned specialist in pulmonary hypertension and a Director in the University of Utah's Division of Cardiovascular Medicine.
