Passing of Benjamin Cumbo IV '05
July 20, 1987 - April 21, 2015

It is with intense sadness that we announce the passing of Ben Cumbo '05  on April 21, 2015 at the age of 27.

Since his diagnosis of muscular dystrophy at the age of 3, Ben had served as a valued leader, advocate, spokesperson, and former National Goodwill Ambassador for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, demonstrating remarkable grace and unfailing good humor throughout his life.

To learn more about Ben and his amazing achievements and experiences, please read his feature on the MDA website, or watch his video profile.

With our hearts full of love, we keep Ben, his family, friends, his '05 classmates, and the entire BMHS community in our thoughts and prayers. We know that Ben lived every day of his life to the fullest with a smile on his face, and have unfailing faith that he rests peacefully with our Lord.

Alumni Involvement
Alumni-Student Mentor Program - We Need YOU!

BMHS is initiating a new program to create mentor connections between students and alumni. This program will promote the overall success of the student and give the alumni the opportunity to inspire, encourage and engage with our bright young leaders. The idea is for students to develop skills that will enable them to achieve, succeed, and recognize their own potential while our awesome volunteer alumni exhibit their commitment to affecting positive change in the educational futures of young people.

This is why we need YOU! You can inspire and encourage a young person to aim high and build their confidence to follow their dreams. In the process, you will learn a lot about yourself and realize that this Alumni-Student Mentor Program is truly a win-win opportunity.

You do not need any specific skills or experience. You simply need to be willing and enthusiastic about wanting to encourage, guide and inspire our BMHS students. No matter how far you climb, you should always look back to see who you can pull up along the way.

Please sign up to become an Alumni Mentor by sending an email to michael.jones@bmhs.org or calling 301.735.8401 ext. 111.
Alumni Speaker Series

We welcome all alumni to come back to Bishop McNamara and speak to our current students about their amazing careers and offer any advice they have about their professional experiences. If you wish to come by and share, contact Michael Jones '96 at michael.jones@bmhs.org.
