Alumni Spotlight - Amanda Krier '15
Amanda Krier, Class of 2015 headed to Alvernia University in Reading, PA after graduation from NFCS. While she started college undecided, she took advantage of Alvernia’s Dual Education Program. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in General Education Pre-K-4 and Special Education Pre-K-8. After graduating from college, Amanda became an Assistant Teacher in one of New Foundations Special Education classrooms. From there, she became a Building Substitute Teacher, and was recently promoted to K-8 Special Education Teacher.

Amanda wanted to work at New Foundations because it felt like her home away from home. “I wanted to work at NFCS because I felt safe and understood when I went there. I wanted to come back and be able to share my experience with others and be that teacher anyone can come to for help or assistance in any way. I like that at NFCS every day is always something new, never boring. When you are on the other side of education, your eyes really open up to all that goes on within the school.”

Alumni Panelist & Speaker Highlights
7th grade had guest speaker and NFCS alumni Steven Ung '18 on Zoom to talk about his experience at NFCS and Temple University. Students had the chance to see some of his current work and ask him questions. 7th graders were curious about the clubs he joined while at NFCS, the teachers he had, and his college-life experience. It was cool to see the projects he made (a robotic arm) and spark some interest with our students. Teachers stressed to try out clubs while in school and to be involved, just as Steven suggested.
NFCS First Graders were joined by Hannah Porter, NFCS Class of 2016 and Temple Class of 2020. Hannah now works as an intensive care nurse at Temple University Hospital and she shared about her educational experience and career. NFCS students asked great questions about Hannah's job and expressed tremendous gratitude for all that she does to help people within our city.
On Friday, 2/25 our alumni Jameson Adgalane '19Adedotun Bello '19, Julia Paiano '19and Harley Rilling '18, took time to speak with New Foundations 9th & 10th graders about their experiences and providing insight and perspective about making the most of your time in high school.
NFCS seniors heard from some alumni about their postsecondary journeys. Thank you to Caleb Rojas '20, Angelina Jala '21, Ryaan Waldron '17, and Brandon Teel '16, for sharing your experiences and wisdom, and to our host Giovanna Clemens '16, for coordinating and facilitating.
