Letter from Henry Chandler, Alumni Coordinator
Spring is on its way to northern Indiana, bringing with it warmer temperatures, more sunshine, and diminishing chances of snow. We are now three quarters of the way into the school year, spring break is approaching, prom plans are being made, and Baccalaureate Mass and Graduation are on the horizon.

In addition, the holy season of Lent continues leading to the most sacred time of the Church year, the Easter Triduum. A Lenten penance service and Living Stations of the Cross will be part of the school-wide observance of the season in preparation for Holy Week. As Lent continues, please keep the Saint Joseph High School community in your prayers. Alumni intentions are part of each Prayer Corner at the school as compiled by the Office of Pastoral Ministry.

Wishing you a Lenten season that brings you closer to God through prayer, fasting and almsgiving and a glorious celebration of the Risen Lord on Easter Sunday.

40-Year Old Photo Prompts Reflection for Swiss Valley Ski Patroller
Teresa (Marzolf) Prego '80 (left) looked back fondly on the photo to the right, taken 40 years ago at the Swiss Valley Ski & Snowboard Area after being dared by the ski instructors to wear shorts on one of the final runs of the season.

She reflected on the photo and the impact that both skiing and recently-passed Swiss Valley owner Jim Wiseman had on her life and the skiing community in the South Bend area.

Teresa joined the Swiss Valley ski patrol as a senior at Saint Joe and continued throughout her time as a student at Notre Dame.

Athletics Update
Boys basketball ended their season in the IHSAA Sectional Semifinal, falling to top-ranked John Glenn.

Seniors Julian Kamanda and Jack Quinn were named to the Indiana Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) Academic All-State First Team.

Seniors Jacob Deahl and Jake O'Dell both qualified academically, but did not register enough playing time to be named to the team.
Saint Joe hockey knocked off fourth-seeded Carmel at the Parkview Icehouse in Fort Wayne to open the double-elimination state tournament before falling to Culver.

The icers bounced back with a 3-2 win to advance to the state semifinals where they met second-seeded Hamilton Southeastern.

Hamilton Southeastern came out quick in the first period and never looked back, stopping the Saint Joe momentum and ending their run in the state semis.

Charlie Eckrich '22, Stephen Eckrich '23, Teddy Hosinski '23, Karsen Meiszberg '22, Jack Plomin '22, and Zach Yergler '23 received recognition on the all-conference team.

The team will close their season with a special trip to Dallas, TX to compete in the USA Hockey National Championships from March 24-28.
Boys swimming sent four competitors to the IHSAA State Championship Meet.

Sophomore Jack Helm, junior Peter Pieniazkiewicz, and seniors Thomas Helm and Sam Sierra made the trip to IUPUI to represent Saint Joe.

Sierra qualified for the A Final in the 200 Individual Medley, where he finished third, and the 100 Butterfly, where he finished second, setting new personal bests and Saint Joe records in both events.
