Building Faith, Character, and Excellence
November 30, 2018
Message from Mr. Henry Chandler
The reunion season has ended, the school year is nearing the end of the first semester, Thanksgiving has come and gone, and we are now in the midst of that wonderful time of the year: the Christmas season.

It is a very busy time with gifts to purchase, events to attend, homes and yards to decorate, special meals to plan, and holiday cookies to bake. As family and friends gather to enjoy the holiday and good cheer, may we never forget that the true spirit of the season is the celebration of the birth of the Infant in Bethlehem who came humbly into this world and whose life and death provided the opportunity for salvation to all of us.

The Alumni Office wishes you a joyous Christmas and God’s continued blessings in the New Year.

Many alumni have received a letter from Saint Joe regarding the Fund for Saint Joseph. This appeal raises money to offset the difference between tuition and the actual cost of a student education at Saint Joseph High School, as well as providing funds for areas of need within the school.

Contributions from alumni are an important source of financial support for their school as its faculty, staff, and administration strive to fulfill our mission of transforming students in heart and mind to serve God, the Church, and the World. Please be as generous as possible in response to this appeal. Your donations to the Fund for Saint Joseph are deeply appreciated.

Rose Veldman is a captain of the Saint Joe girls' golf team, which achieved an undefeated regular season, NIC Championship, and the first team appearance in the IHSAA State Championship.

Rose's prowess on the links speaks for itself - being part of the most successful campaign in Saint Joe Girls' Golf history - though it is her perseverance off the course that may prove most inspiring. Check out the WSBT feature below chronicling Rose's journey from Haiti to Saint Joe, surviving the catastrophic 2010 earthquake whose epicenter was 16 miles from her native Port-au-Prince.
Saint Joe is looking for somebody to fill the Advancement Coordinator position. Familiarity with Saint Joe is preferred, so alumni are encouraged to reach out regarding the position.

The position description and link to requirements are attached. Any questions or resumes should be forwarded to Director of Advancement Bethany Burgun .
Saint Joe Receives Creches from
University of Dayton
Saint Joseph High School has secured five creches from the University of Dayton collection to have on display in the school during the Christmas season, from November 27-January 28. These are part of over 3,500 creches that make up the University of Dayton collection.

The five come from a variety of countries including Japan, Germany, and France, and portray the nativity scene within the context of the native culture and utilizing natural materials from those countries. Notre Dame will also be displaying creches from the University of Dayton, with self-guided exhibits available until January 27 . Look for additional details pertaining to the display at Saint Joe in the Alumni section of the Saint Joe website .
Six Saint Joe student-athletes representing a variety of sports made their school commitments official by signing their National Letters of Intent in front of Alumni Gymnasium on Wednesday.

A big thank you to everyone who came for the recognition ceremony. We especially thank the parents, coaches, family, and friends who continue to support these and all of our student-athletes throughout the years. Your support makes individual successes possible.

Congratulations to all!
