Anita (Simmons) James, 1986 Big Red
is a registered nurse. Prior to becoming a registered nurse, Anita served in the US Air Force for 20 years and was honorable discharged upon retirement. She served as an Aeromedical Technician (medic for personnel on flight/jump status) and Squadron Medical Element (SME) which allowed her to deploy with the unit and conduct sick calls and handled emergencies as they arose. The last 10-11 years of my AF career, she served as a Public Health Technician. After Anita completed nursing school in May 2016 and received her licensure Oct. 2016, she was hired as a floor nurse in long term acute care (LTAC). She currently is a psychiatric nurse in an adult behavioral health inpatient locked unit. Anita resides in Fayetteville, NC.

Favorite high school memory
There are many favorite high school memories such as football games, parties, and playing mellophone in the greatest band in Buckeye Land-the SHS Marching Band-but most memorable for me would be when I became Homecoming Queen. It was a very special and perfect day especially walking on the field with my dad.
Advice to the Class of 2018
My one piece of advice to a graduating senior is this: KNOW what you are passionate about and don't let anything deter you from reaching your goals. As the saying goes, "If you LOVE what you do you will NEVER work a day in your life".
