Dr. Jennifer (Brown) O'Neil, 1997 Big Red
is a pediatric cardiologist in the greater Washington metropolitan area (VA/MD). Dr. O'Neil is a pediatrician who received additional training to care for fetuses, infants, children, and adolescents with congenital or acquired heart disease. She diagnoses and treats these patients in the outpatient clinic and also manages them in the hospital after open-heart surgery. The part of her job that Dr. Jennifer (Brown) O'Neil loves the most is forming relationships with her patients and their families. She performs fetal echocardiograms (ultrasounds) on pregnant women to screen for congenital heart disease in utero. She counsels these families and help them plan for delivery and heart surgery shortly after the babies are born. It is truly rewarding to continue to watch these infants grow and thrive throughout childhood and adolescence.

Advice to the Class of 2018
Focus on being your best each and every day, no matter what you choose to do. If you live your life this way, you will be amazed at how much you will learn and the opportunities that you will have.
As a cardiologist, I would also like to promote CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and AED (automatic external defibrillator) training for all graduating seniors. An AED should be present at all schools and all high school sporting events. Learn this skill and pass on to the rising seniors. This saves lives!
