Alumni Spotlight - Lukas Redmond '14
Lukas Redmond graduated from Elyria Catholic in 2014 where he was a member of the Varsity baseball team for four years. When not on the Panther diamond, he spent much of his time cheering on the other EC sports teams and leading the crowd in the student section. 

Since his time at EC, Luke has gone on to work as a photographer shooting both freelance and professionally. 

In the summer of 2019, Luke moved to North Park, California, a town right outside of San Diego. While in California, he worked for Treehut, a company that specializes in wooden watches. When not in the office, Luke spent his time taking photos of the surfers, beaches, and Pacific Ocean waves that crashed onto the shores of San Diego. 

Over the past seven and a half years since graduation, Luke has also spent time in Ocean City, Maryland shooting freelance there as well. Finding the off beaten path and hidden trails in nature have become his favorite pieces to shoot.
While spending so much time on both the west and east coasts, Luke has taken great pride in keeping our beaches clean as well as shedding light on the importance of taking care of our earth.

Upon returning home to Lorain, Ohio, Luke currently works for Legend Headwear where he shoots product photography. He also has continued his passion for nature pieces by often taking photos of Lake Erie. He enjoys being able to spend so much time in his hometown showcasing the beauty Lorain and Mother Nature has to offer our community.

Luke appreciates the constant support and encouragement he receives daily from his EC classmates and best friends, “shout out to the class of 2014!”

The Taxpayer Certainty and Disaster Tax Relief Act of 2020, enacted last December, provides several provisions to help individuals who give to charity. The new law extends through the end of 2021 some temporary tax changes originally enacted by the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act. 
Individuals who elect to take the standard deduction, including married individuals filing separate returns, can claim a deduction of up to $300 for cash contributions made to qualifying charities during 2021. The maximum deduction is increased to $600 for married individuals filing joint returns. Individuals who itemize deductions may deduct cash gifts up to 100% of your adjusted gross income (AGI) instead of the usual 60% limitation.

Panther Fund Alumni Giving Contest
The new Give page on our school website automatically updates class participation rates in the Panther Fund every time a gift is made so you can see real time results.

The Class of 2010 is currently leading with a 7% participation rate followed closely by the Class of 1969 with a 6% participation rate. Participants from the class with the highest participation rate will be invited to a reception with appetizers and non-alcoholic beverages in the Panther Pavilion and reserved seating during a 2022 Panther home football game. The contest ends June 30, 2022. 
Our 2022 Evening for Excellence: Casino Royale Returns will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022 in the Elyria Catholic Coliseum. Proceeds from this event will be used to add air conditioning to the Coliseum and cafeteria to provide a comfortable experience for students, faculty, and guests. Elyria Catholic is actively seeking sponsors/advertisers and auction item donations to make this event as successful as possible for our students. Young Alumni Award of Excellence
The Young Alumni Award of Excellence honors an Elyria Catholic High School graduate who has achieved distinction in their field of expertise and/or pursuit of higher education while continuing to demonstrate the qualities of an Elyria Catholic High School student - Excellence, Compassion, Faith, Tradition and Community. Nominees must have graduated from Elyria Catholic High School in the last eight years.

Distinguished Alumni Award
The Distinguished Alumni Award honors an Elyria Catholic High School graduate who has achieved distinction in their field of expertise and/or pursuit of higher education while continuing to demonstrate the qualities of an Elyria Catholic High School student - Excellence, Compassion, Faith, Tradition and Community. 

Our Lady of Grace Benefactor Award
The Our Lady of Grace Benefactor Award will be presented annually to an individual, couple, family, corporation, or foundation that has provided substantial support in time, talent or treasure to Elyria Catholic High School and supported Elyria Catholic High School’s efforts to move forward.
A New Tradition at Elyria Catholic High School
Elyria Catholic welcomed the broader community to campus on Friday, December 3, to share in the wonder of a live nativity. After viewing the nativity, everyone had the chance to meet and pet the animals, including Cleve, the camel. The community prayed together before the countdown to light the EC wreath. The event also featured a toy collection for the Chronicle Telegram’s Not-Forgotten Box and Christmas caroling by our EC choir. The Christmas bazaar showcased our talented students who baked treats in our Foods & Nutrition classes, created Christmas gifts in our fine arts classes, and designed and 3D printed EC branded Christmas ornaments in our makerspace. Alumni traveled the halls looking for their class picture and visiting the new James E. Terrell Performing Arts Center. Little ones received an EC drawstring goodie bag with treats all provided by Network Land Title Agency. 
Panther Careers Network

Reunions
Class of 1972 will be celebrating their 50th Class Reunion on September 9 and 10, 2022. The weekend includes a Golf Outing on September 9 and Mass with tour at EC followed by the reunion dinner at The Foundry on September 10.
