International Alumni Spotlight:

Nàdia Tudó Cubells '18

DSU Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing

A native of Ordino, Andorra, Nàdia Tudó Cubells chose Delta State University for the multitude of academic opportunities, the long tradition of athletic excellence, and friendly, welcoming campus and community members.

At Delta State, she earned College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America team recognition in 2017-2018, the same year she co-captained DSU's women's team. Nàdia also received the Louis E. Boone Endowed Scholarship, which is awarded to outstanding students majoring in marketing, management, or business administration.

Nàdia took time to share her DSU experiences while in preparation to compete in the World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, in mid-December 2024. She swam in the 50m, 100m, and 200m breaststroke races.

What have you been doing since you graduated from DSU?

I moved to Germany to continue my swimming career. There I did my Master's degree [at Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences] as well. Currently, I work as a Sustainability Manager for the IT company Bechtle. I continue to swim at the moment and I am swimming this week at the World Championships in Budapest.

Note: Bechtle is Germany's largest IT System House. In a Bechtle press release, Nàdia said, "Simply put, my team and I identify sustainability loopholes in the company and find ways to close them. My focus currently lies on the management and exchange with the international sustainability community at Bechtle. I’m also working on a maturity model that has its roots in my master thesis. We are developing a rating system for all Bechtle companies to measure their sustainability level and make them comparable."

How did DSU prepare you for what you're doing now?

DSU prepared me in so many different ways. Academically, I received a degree and learned English as well. I learned to live and "do life" in another country quite far from home. It helped me continue to pursue my dream of swimming at a high level while also getting an academic degree.

What’s a favorite DSU memory?

I have many. Some of my best friends now are still the people that I swam with at Delta State. I am very fond of all the memories. For me, I came from a very small country and suddenly I was training with 50 swimmers from all over the world that shared the passion for the sport. It was very special.

FALL 2024 GRADUATE SPOTLIGHTS

Martina Rossetti

Rome, Italy

Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing, '23

Master of Business Administration in General Business, '24

What was your major (or field of study), and why did you choose it?

MBA with a concentration in general business. I chose it to further my education in the business field.

What does graduating mean to you and your family?

It means a lot as a first generation and international student and I will always be thankful for my family for allowing me to have this kind of experience.

In what ways have you changed throughout your experience at Delta State?

I matured so much and became extremely independent. I learnt to deal with problems and emotions by myself and how to rise to the difficulties.

What was your favorite thing to do on campus? Or a favorite memory?

One of my favorite things I did on campus was for sure being part of the Student Government and being able to make connections on campus. A favorite memory is definitely the nights spent talking to my roommates in our house.

What song will always remind you of this time in your life?

I don’t have a specific song, but I will always connect my time at Delta State to any Taylor Swift or Morgan Wallen songs. I have so many memories with my roommates screaming their songs out loud.

What are your plans now that you’ve graduated?

I’m hoping to find a job in the US and use my OPT [Optional Practical Training].

Alejandro Junior Varillas Tuesta

Lima, Peru

Bachelor of Business Administration in Management

What was your major (or field of study), and why did you choose it?

I'm majoring in Business Management. I chose my major for the wide field of work options you have available post-graduation and it's always been a field of my choice.

What does graduating mean to you and your family?

It means a lot to me, as a kid I had the dream of coming to the U.S to study and it will be a dream come true. For my family, I will be completing the cycle of having superior education. My mom, dad, and sister have been truly my biggest inspiration.

In what ways have you changed throughout your experience at Delta State?

I have found maturity as the first thing I would say. I've also become more involved with people and the community. Lastly, responsibility played a role really important while being here.

What was your favorite thing to do on campus? Or a favorite memory?

My favorite memory has to go with the soccer team. Going back-to-back to play-offs and reaching the conference championship game will always stay with me.

What song will always remind you of this time in your life?

"Wishing Well" by Juice Wrld

What are your plans now that you’ve graduated?

I will be working for State Farm [as part of Optional Practical Training], so I will stay there and be excited for what life brings in the future.
