International Alumni Spotlight:

Taís Cotta '16

DSU Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and DSU Bachelor of Business Administration in General Business

Futebol (soccer) and Brazil go hand in hand. For Taís Cotta, from Belo Horizonte, Brazil, pursuing a double major in general business and finance while playing at midfield for DSU's women's soccer team went hand in hand, too. Now, Taís combines her business acumen and deep love of futebol in the Orlando Pride Soccer Operations Office to keep the team at the top of the National Women's Soccer League's standings. The Pride became the 2024 National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) champions, Orlando's first major professional championship in any sport.

While at DSU, Taís earned President's List honors for seven semesters and Dean's List honors for one semester. She also received the women's soccer academic award twice. During her senior year, she earned the Keener/Donald Business Administration Award and the Outstanding Intermediate Finance Award. She served on the student-athlete advisory committee and dean's business student advisory committee, as well as being a member of the financial management association club, Delta Mu Delta international honor society in business, and the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.

Taís shared, "DSU prepared me academically to be able to successfully complete my dual master's degrees, and it also prepared me with problem-solving skills that are essential for my current position."

Why did you choose to attend Delta State?

I came to Delta State University to play in the Women’s Soccer program. I chose Delta State because it is a smaller university in a small town, allowing me to focus on my studies and soccer while also having a closer connection with my classmates, teammates, and professors.

What have you been doing since you graduated from DSU?

Since I graduated from DSU, I got my Master's in Sports Business Management (MSBM) and Master's of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Central Florida. I started working with the Orlando Pride in 2017, going from an intern to currently being the Player Care and Administration Manager. I have also worked with many Brazilian soccer clubs, CONMEBOL (South American Football Confederation), and the Brazilian Men’s National Team.

What’s a favorite DSU memory?

My time with my teammates, team bonding, and trips together.
