Join us on Thursday, May 4 at The Academy of Natural Sciences for Tigers on the Loose, Holy Family's scholarship celebration, which raises vital funds for student financial aid.

The evening will begin with a cocktail reception in the Academy’s North American Hall, with the opportunity to learn about Holy Family students’ research projects and to explore the special exhibit, Conversations With Birds. After a short program, guests will enjoy a seated dinner in the Academy’s Dinosaur Hall, surrounded by over 30 species of extinct dinosaurs including Tyrannosaurus rex.

Donor Club Spotlight: President's Club
The President’s Club honors individuals who demonstrate leadership through philanthropy at Holy Family University. President's Club members are recognized with a special pin, their names are listed on a plaque in Marian Hall, and they receive special invitations to exclusive donor events.

Members include donors who make annual gifts of $1,000 or more, as well as recent graduates who make annual gifts at the below amounts:
  • Classes of 2018 - 2022: $100
  • Classes of 2016 - 2017: $250
  • Classes of 2014 - 2015: $500
  • Class of 2013: $750

Campus News

  • Holy Family's Center for Academic Enhancement (CAE) has been awarded certification as a Level 1 certified tutor training program by the internationally recognized College Reading and Learning Association. Congratulations to Dennis Millan (director), student and professional tutors and the entire CAE team!

  • Pramnieks, a Psychology major, and Schreiber, a History major, are in Holy Family's Honors Program and will present their projects again at the SEPCHE Honors Conference at Salus University on Saturday, March 25. 
  • While campus was closed for Spring Break 2023, students from Holy Family's Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter hit the road and built homes in Highpoint, NC. See photos on Instagram @hfuhabitatforhumanity.
  • Also during Spring Break 2023, Holy Family students experienced the latest of the University’s Study Abroad trips when they visited Costa Rica. The nine-day experience was led by Shelley Robbins, interim vice president for Academic Affairs. See details about upcoming trips later in this eNewsletter.

  • Holy Family President, Anne Prisco, Ph.D., is pictured with Joseph Sanginiti, Archbishop Ryan Board Chair and President, Joseph McFadden '01, Archbishop Ryan Principal, and future Tigers.
  • As featured in the Northeast Times, Julie Bamberger-Herrmann '83 was inducted into Maternity BVM's Alumni Hall of Honor. Julie serves on the HFU Alumni Board and is a previous recipient of the Alumni Service Award, honoring long-term service and dedication to our alma mater. Congratulations Julie!
  • Now through March 27, Holy Family's Art Gallery presents Liminal State (works on paper) by Nicole Dul (daughter of former Holy Family professor emerita, Dr. Patricia Michael). 
Athletics News

  • The BennettStrong Foundation, which was founded by Holy Family's former Sports Information Director, Greg Pellegrino and his family, in honor of their son, Bennett, provides support to families of medically complex children including micropremies and pediatric cancer fighters.
  • Skyler Searfoss '26 of the Women's Basketball Team, become one eight players named to the CACC All-Tournament Team.
  • The East Coast Conference (ECC) bestowed major honors on Holy Family's Track and Field team members. See the full report here.

Distinguished Writers Series
On Tuesday, March 28, Holy Family will host a Distinguished Writers Series featuring Sara Nović, author of the of The New York Times Bestseller TRUE BIZ. The event will be held in Campus Center, beginning at 6:30 p.m. For more information, click here.

Glen Foerd - Holy Family University Speaker Series Event
The Glen Foerd-Holy Family University Speaker Series is pleased to announce its Spring 2023 event featuring Andrew Diemer, associate professor of history at Towson University and author of Vigilance: The Life of William Still, Father of the Underground Railroad (Knopf, 2022).

The lecture will be held on Thursday, April 13, at 7:00 p.m. in Holy Family's Education and Technology Center Auditorium. The free event is open to the public and will also be live-streamed. Register for the Zoom link here.

Holy Family to Host Mayoral Candidates
On Tuesday, April 18, Holy Family will host a 2023 Philadelphia Mayoral Candidates Debate, sponsored by the Northeast Times and the Greater Northeast Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee.

All are invited to join us as were hear from the 2023 Mayoral Candidates and learn of their vision for the City of Philadelphia. The structured debate will be moderated by Tom Waring, Editor of Northeast Times, and Daniel McElhatton, Esq., of the Law Offices of Daniel P. McElhatton, PC and member of the Greater Northeast Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce.

Collegiate Recovery Program Event
On Saturday, May 6, Holy Family will host a special event and resource fair sponsored by the University's Collegiate Recovery Program.

The event will feature renowned skateboarder, author, addiction recovery speaker, and MTV celebrity, Brandon Novak (pictured), and Nicholas Emeigh, associate executive director of NAMI Bucks County PA.

The event is FREE and open to the public.

Apply for Federal Student Loan Debt Relief
The Federal Student Loan Debt Relief program seeks to provide eligible borrowers with a one-time full or partial discharge of their loans. Federal Pell Grant recipients may receive up to $20,000 in debt relief and others may receive up to $10,000 in debt relief.
