Advocacy Update

We thank all members who recently shared their comments on draft legislation currently being discussed.

(1) AmCham has submitted its comments to the Ministry of Industry & Trade and the Ministry of Health regarding the Draft Decree of the Chemical Law, specifically the provisions related to food safety. We recommend maintaining a single governing law for food ingredients to ensure clarity and consistency.

(2) AmCham has also submitted comments to the National Assembly, recommending the continuation of the 8% VAT for certain products that are simultaneously subject to Excise Tax.

Members are encouraged to bring forward any advocacy needs or related questions to the relevant Committees, or by email to advocacyaction@amchamvietnam.com.

Similarly, we invite members experiencing instances of administrative delays and challenges to share details via email to communications@amchamvietnam.com. We are compiling this information on behalf of our members.

AAIP Virtual Doorknock: What’s Next for IEEPA Tariffs?

Virtual Event

AAIP members will hear from two excellent trade policy experts – one in Washington, D.C. and the other in region – as to what to watch following the Supreme Court’s hearing on the use of IEEPA for President Trump’s Liberation Day tariffs. If the Supreme Court upholds the President’s authority, what will that mean for those that export to the U.S.? If the decision goes the other way, how should businesses prepare? Could they get a refund? What happens to agreements between the United States and regional governments that have already been signed? Are there other tariffs that President Trump can substitute for the IEEPA tariffs?
