AmCham Vietnam - HCMC Weekly Newsletter
February 2nd, 2026
| | Update from the Executive Director | | Vietnam and the United States are preparing to launch the sixth round of reciprocal trade negotiations, with Vietnam proposing zero tariffs on selected goods despite continued high U.S. demands. Vietnam’s economy continues to draw positive attention, emerging as a regional bright spot for FDI amid global uncertainty. Looking ahead, Vietnam has set an export growth target of 15–16% for 2026 and aims to keep inflation below 4.5%. While inflation is expected to remain broadly under control, economists caution that global price volatility, rising domestic demand, and the lagging effects of earlier price adjustments—particularly in energy, healthcare, and education—could still put upward pressure on prices next year. | | Tomorrow morning, we are hosting a webinar (free for Members) on the outcomes of the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, which elected a new Party Central Committee and re-elected To Lam as General Secretary while adopting a unified resolution setting strategic political and development directions for 2026–2030. Learn more about it and its impacts on the private sector by registering here. | | |
