AmCham Vietnam - HCMC Weekly Newsletter

July 29th, 2025

Update from the Executive Director

Dear AmCham,

I would like to thank our Members for their contributions to two position papers which we submitted last week to the government – one concerning the Resolution on the Publication and Registration of Food Supplement Products, and the other being the second draft of the Decree guiding the implementation of the Law on Food Safety (replacing Decree 15/2018/ND-CP).

In terms of the broader economic outlook, as the U.S. continues to announce trade deals with Japan and the Eurooean Union, we still await further clarification about the trade deal with Vietnam. The Asian Development Bank has downgraded Vietnam’s 2025 GDP forecast to 6.3%, though some experts remain optimistic about reaching 8.5%. Despite global headwinds, Vietnam’s trade sector remains robust, with continued export growth and strong manufacturing momentum, particularly as Nike’s largest global production hub (for the 3rd year in a row).

We are grateful to The Straits Kitchen & Bar – Sedona Suites HCMC for hosting our Connect & Cocktail networking event on July 23, 2025. Our thanks also go to Hera Jewelry, Lamy, Morning Fruit, and Sedona Suites HCMC for generously sponsoring our lucky draw prizes. With 90+ guests from over 70 companies, it was an evening filled with meaningful conversations, new connections, and a true celebration of our vibrant business community.

I’d like to point out that AmCham is hosting our annual Blood Donor Day, which will take place on both August 14 and August 22, 2025, so this is a great opportunity if your organization is looking to participate in any Corporate Social Responsibility activities. Reach out to me directly for more information.

Finally, I’m excited to inform you that our wonderful AmCham ESG Committee is organizing a three-part legal briefing in cooperation with Russin & Vecchi, which is entitled "Environmental Legislative Updates - August 2025.” These updates are free for our Members to join and a great way to follow all the changes happening in that space. Scroll down in the Events section for more information.

I hope you all have a great week ahead!

Yours sincerely,

Travis Mitchell

Executive Director
