Dear AmCham,

It’s truly unbelievable that we are rapidly entering the holiday season. We at AmCham have been organizing our final events and completing pending important advocacy efforts before we take a much-needed breath. I’m delighted to inform you that we submitted our comments for the draft circular amending and supplementing a number of articles on the extension of registration licenses for circular medicines and medicinal ingredients. 

As we approach the end of an eventful year, we would like to take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to each of you for your unwavering support and commitment to AmCham Vietnam. Your partnership has been integral to our success, and we are excited to continue working together as we embark on new opportunities in 2024. [VnExpress] Vietnam plans travel ban for individuals with tax debts of $400 or more. People who have unpaid taxes of VND10 million ($393.90) and above for 120 days may be banned from leaving Vietnam, according to a proposal by the Ministry of Finance. The proposed ban would also apply to business representatives who owe VND100 million or more.

[VietnamNet Global] Vietnam home to 174 FDI projects in semiconductor sector. Vietnam has emerged as a burgeoning hub for the semiconductor industry, now home to 174 foreign-invested projects with a total registered capital of nearly 11.6 billion USD, according to Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung.

[VOV.vn] Vietnam's textile export turnover hits US$44 billion in 2024. Vietnam's textile and garment industry has fulfilled its US$44-billion export turnover target in 2024, an increase of over 11% compared to 2023, thanks to efforts in market diversification, technological innovation, and effectively capitalising on the shift in orders.

[VnEconomy] Vietnam attracts $11.6 bln of FDI capital in semiconductor. Vietnam's semiconductor industry revenue is projected to hit $18.23 billion in 2024, marking an 11.5% increase compared to the previous year, stated Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Manh Hung.

[VOV.vn] Vietnam’s semiconductor industry expects benefits from partnership with US chipmaker NVIDIA. A recent partnership with U.S. chip giant NVIDIA will open a wider door for Vietnam to develop its semiconductor industry as the group pledged to shift part of its manufacturing to Vietnam in the future, according to several local experts.

[Viêt Nam News] HCM City’s retail sales up 11 per cent this year. Retail sales in HCM City reached VNĐ567.98 billion (US$22.36 million) in 2024, a year-on-year rise of 11 per cent, the municipal Department of Industry and Trade has reported.

[Saigon Times] Vietnam eyes 8% GDP growth in 2025. Vietnam is targeting economic growth of at least 8% in 2025, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh announced in a directive urging tighter coordination of monetary and fiscal policies.
