AmCham Vietnam present at Conference between Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Foreign Businesses
A dialogue between Vietnamese Government officials and foreign business representatives was hosted on April 22nd by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Hanoi. The event was focused on fostering foreign investment and mitigating economic headwinds. Also in attendance were Deputy Prime Ministers Le Minh Khai and Tran Luu Quang, Minister Nguyen Chi Dung of the Planning and Investment Ministry, Minister Nguyen Hong Dien of the Industry and Trade Ministry, Minister Dao Ngoc Dung of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, as well as local and provincial people’s committee representatives.
In his remarks, AmCham Vietnam National Chairman Greg Testerman highlighted key opportunities to stimulate foreign investment including: expediting approval of energy plans, developing holistic digital economy regulations, implementing global standards and accelerating approvals for healthcare products, simplifying immigration policies and procedures, and ensuring effectiveness of new recycling and beverage contributions and taxes.
AmCham members attending the event included Abbott, AES, Apple, Citi, Coca-Cola, First Solar, Intel, KPMG, Meta, MSD, Pacifico Energy, Pfizer, P&G, Suntory Pepsico, and UL Solutions. Other business associations present at the meeting included EuroCham and KoCham.

AmCham Chair's Circle 2023 Dialogue with HCMC People's Committee Chairman Phan Van Mai
In collaboration with the the city's Investment and Trade Promotion Center (ITPC), AmCham hosted a dialogue with HCMC Chairman, Phan Van Mai, to better understand the challenges businesses face in HCMC. AmCham Board members and leaders of AmCham Committees shared perspectives and recommendations to continue to promote growth and progress in the city.

AmCham members talk AI & data at Business Intelligence Briefing
Last week two thought leaders from Microsoft participated in a discussion at an AmCham Business Intelligence Briefing on How Businesses Can Leverage the Full Power of AI & Data. AmCham HCMC Board member and Microsoft Vietnam General Manager Nguyen Quynh Tram and Microsoft Vietnam Chief Technology Officer Dr. Le Nhan Tam discussed how AI is changing the way we do business with an audience of tech professionals, digital enthusiasts, and people who were curious about this emerging technology tools.
Tram and Dr. Tam talked about how Generative AI can unlock value for business by creating new written, visual and auditory content. Specific use cases in Vietnam were discussed, and participants got to see AI in action in real time. The briefing was followed by a networking cocktail reception.

Corporate Governance: How good companies prepare for bad things to happen
AmCham’s Legal and ESG Committees organized a seminar last week focused on Navigating Corporate Governance for Foreign Investors in Vietnam. The event was sponsored by member organization FTI Consulting. A panel of experienced speakers shared insight on topics such as risk mitigation and compliance, due diligence requirements for investors, anti-corruption regulations in Vietnam and navigating risk scenarios.
Speaking at the event were AmCham Chair Greg Testerman; Orsolya Szotyory-Grove, Senior Associate, Mayer Brown Vietnam and Co-Chair of AmCham's Legal & Vietnam Business Forum Committee; Rachel Layburn, Senior Managing Director, Risk Advisory & Investigations practice, FTI Consulting; and Jeremy Tan, Managing Director, Risk Advisory and Investigations Practice, FTI Consulting.
The seminar was followed by a networking reception for all participants.
