The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission will conduct FREE product safety training for buyers and sourcing professionals purchasing textiles/ apparel/ upholstered furniture in Vietnam. The training event will take place from 9:00am to 5:00pm on September 13, 2023 in Ho Chi Minh City.
Target groups for this training are resident-in-Vietnam buyers and sourcing professionals who purchase consumer products for major importers located in the United States. Many will be direct employees of U.S. companies. Other potential attendees will be from specialized firms that handle purchasing for large global retailers, as well as from small and medium sized trading companies active in the consumer product export business. English-Vietnamese interpretation will be provided.

ESG Committee discusses GHG Accounting
Last week the ESG Committee heard from subject matter experts Ha Do of KPMG and Minh Ton of Motul Asia Pacific (Vilube Corp.) on the subject of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Accounting. Topics covered included reporting standards, Decree 06 on GHG reduction, and a case study that featured best practices.
During the event, ESG Committee Co-Chair Van Ly of Raise Partners shared "The Little Book of GHG Emissions Reporting," a how-to guide for public companies to measure and report their GHG emissions to meet regulatory requirements. The Little Book was published this month by the State Securities Commission of Vietnam in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO), and the British Standards Institution (BSI Vietnam), and can be found here.

The 4th Ho Chi Minh City Economic Forum (HEF) is being planned for September 13-17 with the theme "Green Growth - Towards Net Zero".
HEF 2023 promises to be a major international event, with a focus on topics including green growth and the circular economy for megacities; building circular economy ecosystems; and policies for generating green growth towards net zero. We will share more information about the event as the date approaches.
