Consumer Product Safety Training for Buyers and Sourcing Professionals

At New World Hotel Saigon, 76 Le Lai Street, Dist. 1, HCMC


The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission will conduct FREE product safety training for buyers and sourcing professionals purchasing textiles/ apparel/ upholstered furniture in Vietnam. The training event will take place from 9:00am to 5:00pm on September 13, 2023 in Ho Chi Minh City.


Target groups for this training are resident-in-Vietnam buyers and sourcing professionals who purchase consumer products for major importers located in the United States. Many will be direct employees of U.S. companies. Other potential attendees will be from specialized firms that handle purchasing for large global retailers, as well as from small and medium sized trading companies active in the consumer product export business. English-Vietnamese interpretation will be provided.

AmCham Calls for Nominations to the National Board


The American Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam ("AmCham") is seeking a diverse and inclusive National Board of Governors for the term from 2023 to 2025 that will provide, on behalf of our membership, strategic guidance, oversight, and resources to the Chamber and its Chapters. The National Board will guide AmCham’s professional staff and its volunteer committee leaders in our mission to promote trade and investment between Vietnam and the United States, and to serve as the voice of American business in Vietnam.

 

All AmCham voting members are invited to nominate fellow voting members in good standing who can help us to be the most influential, strategic, and dynamic business association in Vietnam. AmCham welcomes American, Vietnamese, and international companies that share our interest in enabling a fair, transparent, predictable, and efficient regulatory environment that values innovation. We are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), as well as environmental, social and governance (ESG) values.

DOIT meets Foreign-Invested Retailers in HCMC


Last week the Department of Investment & Trade (DOIT) of the HCMC People's Committee led a dialogue to hear proposals and recommendations from Foreign-Invested Enterprises in the Retail sector. Mr. Le Huynh Minh Tu, Vice Director of DOIT, led the group that included representatives from the Department of Planning & Investment, the Department of Transportation and the HCMC Police Department.


Participants shared their experiences and learned about the People's Committee's plans to develop the retail sector in HCMC. The People's Committee plans to launch an online portal to handle documentation for Retail enterprises. The portal is scheduled to be operational on October 1 this year.
