Last week, Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee hosted a Year-End event with key stakeholders from a variety of organizations including foreign business associations. Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee and Chairwoman of the municipal People's Council Nguyen Thi Le reiterated the importance of the city's partnerships with international organizations such as AmCham in its development journey. AmCham HCMC & Danang Food & Beverage Committee members visit Vietnam Food Administration offices. Several members of the AmCham Food & Beverage Committee visited the Vietnam Food Administration (VFA) offices on January 30th. Representatives of member companies Abbott, Unilever, Nestlé, TH Group, Nu Skin and Friesland Campina expressed appreciation for their partnership in 2023 and expressed best wishes to VFA officials for the new year. | |
Implementation of the survey of Department and District Competitiveness Index (DDCI) of Ho Chi Minh City 2023
AmCham is proud to take part in the Department and District Competitiveness Index (DDCI) survey led by the Investment & Trade Promotion Center of Ho Chi Minh City for 2023. Members are encouraged to make their voices heard by taking the survey.
City leaders in HCMC are keen on understanding the insights and recommendations from Foreign Business Associations to aid the municipal government in assessing the effectiveness of economic management within local departments. Your input is valuable for identifying and addressing obstacles, ultimately contributing to the enhancement of the city's business and investment environment.

The event is jointly organized by Fulbright University and AmCham Vietnam - HCMC.
Jerome L. Dodson is the founder of Parnassus Investments, a leading fund management firm for socially responsible and “ESG” investing. With a steadfast commitment to positive social and environmental impact, Dodson founded Parnassus Investments in 1984. After serving in many roles including Chairman, reaching assets under management of over $40 billion, he and his family sold their stakes in 2021.
Dodson first came to Vietnam in 1966 as a Foreign Service officer, working for the American Embassy in Saigon. His assignments took him all over what was then South Vietnam. There, he met his wife of 50 years, Thao. Together, and for the last 15 years, they have funded a program run by the Asia Foundation to educate 125 underprivileged Vietnamese girls every year. Dodson is a graduate of Harvard Business School.

The Vietnam Child Protection & Safeguarding Summit brings together a wide range of attendees to advance child wellbeing in Vietnam and is centered on:
- Promoting best practices for child protection and wellbeing
- Increasing collaboration among educational institutions, service providers, NGOs, industry, government agencies, and consulates
The Summit will offer sessions on a range of topics related to professional skill development, information on current trends, and panel discussions with experts.
Participants will also have an opportunity to network and generate ideas on how to collaborate more frequently on child protection matters.
The keynotes will be simultaneously translated from English to Vietnamese, and there are breakout sessions in both English and Vietnamese.
