AmCham Vietnam Weekly Newsletter

April 1st, 2025

Update from the Executive Director

Dear AmCham,

On April 2, President Trump will announce reciprocal tariffs in what he is calling “Liberation Day.” While there has been lots of speculation, at this point no one knows what he is planning to do. I know that many of our members are apprehensive about what will come, but the Chamber will do everything we can to support you.

AmCham will send out relevant updates via email, social media, and our newsletter. On the morning of April 17, we are hosting an event entitled “Navigating the Trade and Tariffs Landscape” where we will discuss and analyze the latest developments, and you can register here. This follows our own tariff-related updates over the last six weeks, where we have hosted three webinars and one in-person event, along with a survey whose results were disseminated to both the US and Vietnamese governments and made international press. AmCham is here to support you during this uncertain time, and I encourage you to reach out to us directly for any questions, comments, or concerns you may have.

Last week, we switched up our usual networking event and instead hosted "Connect & Cocktails meets DeutscheenTreff” with the German Business Association (GBA) which welcomed over 200 professionals. A special thank you to our generous sponsors – Mâm Mâm Eatery & Lounge, Hera Jewelry & Diamonds, Morning Fruit, and IN Dining – for their support!

I want to highlight that our Education & Training Committee is hosting their monthly meeting on Wednesday, April 2 from 9:00am to 10:00am, so please do join us and register here

Additionally, please mark your calendars for our U.S. Independence Day Celebration & Community Picnic, taking place on Saturday, June 28th. This annual tradition for the American business community in Ho Chi Minh City also offers a fantastic opportunity to showcase your businesses, products, and services, and it’s fun! More details on the event and sponsorship opportunities will be shared soon.

Lastly, please note that the AmCham office will be closed on Monday, April 7th, in observance of the Hung Kings Festival holiday. We will reopen on Tuesday, April 8th.

I wish you all a great week ahead, and please note that we will continue to update you as we receive more information.

Yours sincerely,

Travis Mitchell

Executive Director
