AmCham Vietnam Weekly Newsletter
April 29th, 2025
| | Update from the Executive Director | | AmCham would like to extend its heartfelt congratulations to the people of Vietnam on the occasion of Reunification Day. Fifty years after the end of the war, Vietnam stands as a peaceful, increasingly prosperous, and unified nation. The focus on the future and the common desire for prosperity not only united those within Vietnam but also contributed to the reconciliation between Vietnam and the United States. Commerce was the wedge that opened the door for all other elements of the U.S.-Vietnam relationship and led to one of the great foreign relations success stories in modern history. AmCham is proud to continue to play a role in enhancing trade and commerce between the two nations. Please note that the AmCham office will be closed for the holiday from April 30th to May 2nd. We will resume regular operations on Monday, May 5th. | | Join us for the AmCham–U.S. Mission Leadership Weekend at the stunning Shilla Monogram Danang, May 16–18! Connect with senior U.S. Government leaders, including Ambassador Marc Knapper, and dive into key discussions on tariffs, trade policy, and strengthening U.S.–Vietnam economic ties. It is going to be a fantastic weekend, and we encourage you to take the time to enjoy beautiful Danang. Click here to register. | | Mark your calendar! AmCham’s 30th Annual Independence Day Celebration & Community Picnic on Saturday, June 28! With over 1,000 guests expected, this signature event offers great exposure for businesses and organizations. We're now welcoming sponsors and participants—view sponsorship packages and registration details here. | | Thank you to Hotel Equatorial HCMC for hosting our Connect & Cocktail event on April 23rd, and to our lucky draw sponsors—Au Lac Do Brazil, Hera Jewelry, Morning Fruit, and Hotel Equatorial—for their generous support. With guests from 40+ companies, it was a fantastic night of connection and celebration. | | On April 24, we hosted “Vietnam’s New Administration and Its Impact on Critical Business Sectors”, featuring in-depth analysis and actionable insights on the evolving economic and policy landscape. I’d like to thank our fantastic speakers for providing their perspective on how the changes are impacting business; in summary, expect short-term challenges but long-term efficiency. | | Thank you everyone for all your support of the Chamber. We really appreciate you and are honored to serve as the voice of American business. |
Yours sincerely,
Travis Mitchell

The stars are aligned this year in Washington to pass Residence-Based Taxation for qualifying Americans, eliminating the requirement to report income earned outside the U.S. and the burdensome FBAR and FATCA compliance. AAIP firmly believes that this reform will enhance American business competitiveness and foster increased Foreign Direct Investment (FDI).
