AmCham Vietnam’s Vision:

The most influential, strategic, and dynamic business association in Vietnam, that drives innovation and sustainable growth, and helps our members succeed. AmCham is a diverse and inclusive business association. We welcome American, Vietnamese, and international companies that share our interest in enabling a fair, transparent, predictable, and efficient regulatory environment that values innovation. A community you want to join!
Dear ,
Many thanks from the AmCham team to our AmCham members and friends for all your support in 2021! Wishing all a Happy New Year!
I have been in Krakow, Poland, over the holidays, visiting my daughters’ 93-yr old Polish grandmother (aka babcia). The days were short with sunset about 3:45PM, but it was wonderful spending time with family and exploring this historic city. We head back to Vietnam tomorrow. Unfortunately, the local authorities couldn’t designate my home an appropriate quarantine facility in time, so we will be back in a quarantine hotel. But at least this time it will be 3 days vs 7, 14, or 21. Even if that will likely be rounded up to 4 days or maybe 4 nights… In any case, see you virtually soon!

We look forward to supporting you throughout 2022 and helping you and your businesses succeed through our advocacy, committees, and events. Several of us spent time over the holidays finalizing a December 23 letter to the Prime Minister sharing highlights from our November member survey on Prospects for Reopening, Recovery, and Rebound and recommendations for a resilient rebound and sustainable growth. We also finalized AmCham’s statement for the annual Vietnam Business Forum (VBF) January 15th in coordination with AmCham Hanoi, and contributed to several of the VBF Working Group position papers. Thank you to all who contributed and provided feedback! We are also arranging details for a meeting with Binh Duong provincial authorities on January 18. See Advocacy Section for more details.

We will share details on more 2022 events soon. Meanwhile, to get you started:
Upcoming Events, Committee Leadership Opportunities, and Meetings.

Jan 10 Fintech Outlook. Start the new year with a discussion with Vietnam’s fintech leaders: Momo Co-founder and Executive Vice Chairman Diep Nguyen; Timo CEO Henry Nguyen; and TVS Managing Director and Finhay and Momo investor Thao Nguyen on January 10 at 4PM to learn expert insights about prospects for Vietnam’s dynamic fintech market. Whether you are in the fintech sector or not, its development likely will change how your company operates and how you go about your daily life in Vietnam. Panel discussion followed by networking cocktail reception. Virtual participation also possible. Register now!

Committee Meetings. Both the Capital Markets and Financial Services (CMFS) Committee and Education and Training Committee canceled their early January meetings this week for the holidays. We encourage those who usually join the CMFS Committee Meeting to join the January 10 Fintech event!

Leadership Opportunities. Many committees are now soliciting interest from potential candidates interested in serving in leadership positions. Elections for most committees will take place in January or February. If you are interested in serving in a leadership role, please contact existing Committee leaders, Board Liaisons, or Events and Committees Manager Lily Nguyen at lily.nguyen@amchamvietnam.com. While several committees have canceled early January meetings for the holidays, Committee meetings that take place are now open to both in-person (for fully-vaxed) and virtual participation. Please register in advance. All AmCham Vietnam members are welcome to join.

We also submitted a joint position paper with USABC on Decree 72, Management of Internet Services coordinated by our Digital Economy and Technology Committee, and a position paper on a food safety circular coordinated by our Food& Beverage Committee. We were delighted that last- minute approval came through to extend Marketing Authorizations for pharmaceutical products, enabling continued access to lifesaving drugs.

We continue to seek opportunities to demonstrate how U.S. technologies can help Vietnam accelerate its energy transition to meet COP26 commitments and meet its sustainable development goals. We are also arranging details for a meeting with Binh Duong provincial authorities on January 18.
