Happy Lunar New Year and best wishes from the AmCham team! We hope you enjoyed the Tet holidays. We look forward to a successful Year of the Tiger! I enjoyed my garden, including a few new purchases from the Tet Flower Market across from our AmCham offices at the New World Hotel. It’s important to support the local economy… It was also blissfully quiet without the construction noise I have experienced from the house next door for the last four months. And the Saigon skies were so blue!
I am just back in the office and catching up today with a few members of our team. We look forward to seeing many of you soon and sharing news of many more upcoming events!

It’s official! U.S. Ambassador Marc Knapper arrived in Vietnam just before the Tet holidays and presented his credentials today, February 7. We look forward to a close partnership to strengthen U.S. trade and investment ties with Vietnam. And once he settles in Hanoi, we hope to welcome Ambassador Knapper soon to meet our many members in HCMC, and later Da Nang! And we are happy to welcome Consul General Marie Damour back home to HCMC after her stint in Hanoi as Chargé d' Affaires. |

AmCham was honored to be among the organizations recognized by HCMC leaders for contributions to support COVID relief and recovery. Many thanks to our members for your generous support, both through AmCham CARES and directly! And to the U.S. government for its donations of 24.6 million doses of vaccines that are helping enable the reopening and economic recovery taking place now! |

It was wonderful to see so many members and friends at our final Connect & Cocktail event of the year at The Reverie Saigon the pre-Tet week! Save the date – February 23rd for our February Connect & Cocktail – venue TBD.
AmCham Spring Gala. To make up for the challenges of 2021, we plan to have two gala events this year, the first on April 2, and the second on December 10! We plan to hold a Ball Committee meeting to start planning either later this week or early next. AmCham’s galas are always the best parties/ fundraisers – thanks to our creative volunteers and our talented events team. If you have ideas, skills, and/or interest in planning a spectacular Spring Gala, please contact Office Manager Cindy Tran soonest at Cindy.Tran@amchamvietnam.com

Upcoming Committee Leadership Opportunities and Meetings
Leadership Opportunities. Many committees are now soliciting interest from potential candidates interested in serving in leadership positions. Elections for most committees will take place in February or March, if they haven’t already. If you are interested in serving in a leadership role, please contact existing Committee leaders, Board Liaisons, or Events and Committees Manager Lily Nguyen at lily.nguyen@amchamvietnam.com. While several committees have canceled early January meetings for the holidays, Committee meetings that take place are now open to both in-person (for fully-vaxed) and virtual participation. Please register in advance. All AmCham Vietnam members are welcome to join.
AmCham Membership Renewal. For many of you, it's time to renew your membership for 2022 and continue your involvement in AmCham, with opportunities for professional networking, business intelligence, advocacy to improve the business environment, and promotion of your business. We have been sending out 2022 Membership Renewal notices via email. We hope you all will renew promptly and that many will consider upgrading to become Premium Members! VTV4 interviews. Those of you who are Vietnamese speakers may enjoy the pre-Tet videos from VTV4 on AmCham member views on Vietnam’s economy. The bottom line per my recollection is that our members are grateful for Vietnam’s rapid vaccine rollout and approach to living safely with the virus, which are enabling the current reopening and recovery now underway. Many of our members are considering expanding investment and new companies continue to invest in Vietnam. We believe there are huge opportunities for partnerships with US companies to spur innovation and sustainable growth in Vietnam.
