Mobile (motor vehicle) radio installations
Are you curious how to install your amateur radio into your motor vehicle? Join Sci-Tech Amateur Radio Society for its 2nd Tuesday Lecture Series. Radio guru Jeremy Breef-Pilz KB1REQ will be showing us how to perform a mobile installation.
About Jeremy (abstracted from QRZ.com):
Jeremy is an electrical engineer who's been into amateur radio since 2008 and two way radio for longer. He studied Electrical and Computer Engineering at Northeastern University in Boston, and is currently employed by Motorola Solutions.
Jeremy is abundantly active in radio, including contesting, HF digital modes, and supporting and improving repeaters in particular those with P25 and DMR. Jeremy participates in public service events and Skywarn.
|
|
Jeremy also serves as the Section Youth Coordinator for Eastern Massachusetts and advises the ARRL on matters of youth involvement. He supports many area clubs, and is one of the founding members of STARS.

Congratulations to
Greg Paul, one of the directors of New England Sci-Tech, on becoming a ham radio operator! Greg, KC1MND, has taken two radio courses at NE SciTech and successfully passed Tech and General. He says he will be working on his AE soon.

HamXposition is moving from Boxborough to Marlborough
Some big changes are coming to the Northeast HamXposition! It will be held at the Best Western Royal Plaza Hotel & Trade Center, 181 Boston Post Rd., Marlborough, MA, on the 4th full weekend of July. This year, the dates are July 24, 25, and 26. Reserve that weekend for the next 5 years at least.
|
|
Eight members of the Natick High Robotics Team recently took a course at NE SciTech and successfully passed the Technician exam.
Since then, another student Max Horton has studied for and passed Tech with a perfect score, and Jonathan studied for and passed General. Some students have already gotten their HT radios, others are already experimenting with home-brewed oscillators and Morse Code.
We are very proud of these students and are grateful for their weekly mentoring of middle school robotics students here at New England Sci-Tech.

Status of Club Repeaters
We need all licensed STARS members to participate in a radio coverage survey to see where the Natick and Milton repeaters can/can't reach, and then please suggest possible repeater location to fill in any bad spots. Send reports to
info@STARS.radio
.
Please get on the air more often, too! We need to use these repeaters or lose our frequencies. Suggested best times would be during commuter traffic - 6-8 AM and 5-7 PM weekdays. We also need help running the Net on Tuesdays at 8pm - any volunteers?
Natick UHF: 446.325 PL 146.2 at New England Sci-Tech (linked)
